Well when I was drawing it I was thinking about...what if splinter gave mikey more advanced training and possibly made him his successor (more training in different weapons and techniques). Then I thought what if splinter was hoping that he could train mikey to be strong enough to bring back at least one of his brothers (most likely Leo)
