josie was working another shift. she was still uneasy about everything. the fact that they were working at jerry’s store while he was probably dead was just so...unsettling to her. and the fact that they were doing so illegally was even moreso. the most trouble josie had ever gotten into was accidentally not paying for something at a store when she was a child. this was way beyond that. but she needed to focus on her job, it was still a paycheck, still a good thing for her resume she told herself. it still made her look good. she finally finished organizing all of the records when she went over to the counter where rai was manning the register. “hey. have you listened to that new destiny’s child music?” she asked, making casual conversation. “i just learned how to play some of it on the piano.”
