It wasn’t difficult to work his way through the hospital to his daughter’s room. He might not have resembled his old ID in any useful way, but he had something that the older Kai didn’t: the power of compulsion. After being directed to the room, 1406, by a very helpful receptionist, he prepared himself for a situation he never, ever thought he would have to experience. He says nothing as he steps in, making his presence known to the room’s inhabitants just with the sound of his steps against the linoleum floor.
