View From Rainbow Curve - June 2023 There are restrooms at Rainbow Curve and a large parking area. Kathy was able to roll up and down a long sidewalk located next to the retaining wall. I was able to walk up and down that same sidewalk and get multiple views of the valley below and the switchbacks on the highway which we had traveled on the way up. MWM
Lesser Chipmunk - June 2023 While I was watching the golden mantled ground squirrel, a smaller chipmunk evidently smelled the pieces of cookie and came out to see if it could get some. It didn’t give me a good standing pose like the squirrel had, but I still got a very good image of it on the rock. MWM
Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel - June 2023 This Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel was on the retaining wall at the visitors center at Rainbow Curve on the Rocky Mountain National Park. There are signs all over the place telling you not to feed the squirrels and pointing out all the diseases that they carry, but one woman was breaking up cookies to attract them up on the rocks so her young son could pet them. I was very angry, but that didn’t stop me from taking advantage of the situation to get some really good images of him. I really prefer the first image for the composition quality, but in the second image he is almost facing the camera. So I am posting them both. MWM
