Myriad Mayan Colors
She’s virtually indestructible and boasts a myriad of sublime colors. Galactic black, Olmec blue, gemma, and apple green, ice and yellow, even lilac. Yes, I’m talking about jade and today it’s the lovely rainbow jade.
Notice the mauve coloring, marbled in white with light blue veins. Awesome!
Rainbow jadeite has unique qualities that other colors of jade don’t have. It generally has a sharp white background with light violet or mauve interspersed with light blue veins. Mauve colors in jadeite are evidence of the element manganese which is an essential nutrient to all forms of life. Rainbow jade’s non-translucency provides a sturdy template for creating sterile, marble-like sculptures and jewelry cabochons. Who knew that jade came in rainbow colors? In addition to the traditional green jade colors, rainbow jade is unique, lovable, and absolutely wearable.
Rainbow heart and cabochons, how lovely.
