Well, this story seems more like a grinch/christmas carol crossover than an accurate re-telling of a christmas carol, so nitpicking seems a bit pointless, honestly. The motivations of our main character are different to the original, and there’s no ‘marley’ type ghost either, so it’s not exactly an exact re-telling. 

So no, I do’t think she had to be mute, besides, we wouldn’t have gotten that awesome Luna song if they’d stuck with that. It added so much more to the scene imo.

I also believe it is possible for them to be killed by conventional means. Celestia has shown that she can feel physical pain, which is something an immortal being would have no use for.

Oh I’m fully aware they’re not INVULNERABLE, but they’re definitely immortal in the sense they can’t die by aging. If that’s because of their ties to the sun and moon exactly, I don’t know. I suppose it’s possible.

If that is the case, how that connection formed in the first place is another matter altogether. Ponies who raised the sun and moon before celestia and luna were unlikely to be immortal, after all. was it because the magic they created to become alicorns was linked to the sun and moon?

it’s an interesting theory~ 

i like to think that the longer they built this magical connection with the sun and moon, the more it tied them to equestria. were celestial bodies themselves involved? did it have something to do with the tree of harmony? Celestia and Luna’s cutie marks were on it from the moment it came into existence, after all. Did its magic help in some way to retain harmony and keep the cycle of day and night moving?

It’s all conjecture at this point, but makes good headcanon fodder lmao

//Well, one thing you could work with is that they made it look like it took the combined effort of several unicorns to move the sun and moon, not just one powerful unicorn for each. Maybe you could have where Celestia and Luna were the first unicorns to figure out how to channel their magic enough to move the celestial bodies without help.

honestly, that was my first initial thought when writing it, I was like ‘what if multiple ponies did it?’ which does make a lot of sense, honestly. (but then i changed it to it not using magic at all which in all fairness doesn’t make total sense) Twilight struggled doing it on her own with the magic of 4 alicorns in her -- granted, it was unstable magic she didn’t know how to fully control, but still. 

mmmm I think I have an idea of what I’m going to do with it, actually. Gonna go edit the post~

//Something I just noticed while reading through it: In the Hearth's Warming episode they had established that unicorns were responsible for the sun and moon before Equestria was founded, so that could be a bit of a problem with the part where you say the sun and moon were freely moving back then.

did they? hm, i’ll have to give it a rewatch, because i’ve only watched that episode once when it first aired, since I don’t like it very much lol.

We know they're younger than Equestria and that no Alicorns have ever been born in Equestria, but technically we don't know that those two were born in Equestria.

no, i noticed it in the episode, i always pay rapt attention when celestia is talking lol 

and yeah, i suppose it IS possible, she did say ‘it’s nothing equestria has seen before’ which is fair enough, but i kind of like my new headcanon for it so i’ll probably stick with it now until the show tears it apart again LOL
