Adelaide Rowe was once a vibrant, magnetic presence in her small Arkansas town. She lived with her widowed father and older brother, Allen Rowe, in a quiet rural home surrounded by woods. Adelaide was beloved by her peers—loud-mouthed, playful, and effortlessly popular. She played volleyball with her high-school team, cracked jokes that carried across school halls, and spent her afternoons arranging delicate petals in the town’s local florist shop.

Though she attracted admiration, some attention became sinister. Allen’s group of friends—older boys from their church—nursed disturbing obsessions with her. They lingered around the Rowe household under the pretense of friendship with Allen, but their eyes were always on Adelaide. She rejected them time and again, her gut twisting with unease at their invasive stares and lingering comments.

Everything changed when Allen accepted an invitation to a weekend camping trip with those same boys. He never came back. The truth would never reach the town—Adelaide would be gone soon after.

That night, July 29th, they came for her. Dragged into the dark heart of the woods, Adelaide was stripped of her humanity in a grotesque mockery of a ritual. Antlers were bound to her skull with brambles, hooves lashed to her ankles, her skin slick with animal blood. They chased her—shotguns raised, laughter echoing through the trees—until she collapsed beneath a moonless sky, breathless and broken. She died hunted like prey, violated in spirit, her final moments soaked in fear and cruelty. 14 buck-shot bullets were lodged throughout her body.

Her father still searches for her and her brother.

Post-Death:

Death did not end Adelaide Rowe. It changed her—stripped her of feeling, of warmth, of the girl she once was. What remained was a hollowed vessel tethered to the woods, animated by vengeance and something older than grief. When Slenderman found her—raw, spectral, and still stained with blood—he saw her for what she was: not broken, but transformed. He offered her a place in the Proxy collective, and she accepted without a word.

Now a fully-bound proxy, Adelaide serves Slenderman as a scout, information-gatherer, and quiet enforcer, drifting through the wilderness and backroads in eerie silence. She rarely speaks unless prompted, often responding with slow nods or those haunting, unblinking stares. She forms few bonds—but her connection to Toby Rogers is unmistakable. It’s not romantic—more like trauma-forged siblinghood. He talks, she listens. She grounds him in her stillness, and he pulls her from the edge of vanishing entirely. They understand each other in the way only haunted things can. Sometimes she looks at him and can see Allen.

Her dynamic with Masky and Hoodie, however, is more complicated—a chaotic, on-and-off triangle of tension, indulgence, and denial. Some nights, she drifts toward Masky’s rough edge, letting him take what he needs with no strings. Other nights, it’s Hoodie she finds in the dark, quiet and burning slow. She doesn’t seem to care about loyalty—she simply goes where the pull is strongest that night, then leaves without looking back. Neither man can fully claim her, and that ambiguity drives them both mad.

Kate are her rarely see each other, let alone speak. They have neutral feelings toward the other. Adelaide doesn’t care enough to make allies with any of the other members of the mansion because she sees no point in it.

Adelaide spends her days wandering back roads, abandoned cabins, and stretches of highway—searching for the next creature to raise, the next place to haunt, and the next mission Slenderman whispers into her bones. She finds amusement in spooking hunters or hikers.

Abilities:

Adelaide is no combat brute—she’s a predator of patience, deception, and atmosphere. Her most haunting ability lies in her unnatural connection to nature and death surrounding her.

Woodsense: Adelaide is spiritually tethered to forests and natural decay. She can move through woods without a trace, sense approaching lifeforms, and command the forest to mask her or mislead others.

Necrozoology (Dead Animal Reanimation): Her signature ability. When she finds a dead or dying animal—roadkill, game carcasses, predator kills—she can reanimate its body and puppet it as though it were alive. These creatures serve as her eyes and ears, ideal for reconnaissance and spying. Crows, deer, foxes, raccoons—even insects—move with unnatural coordination under her control. They collapse into dust when their task is done.

Emotional Blankness: Her emotional detachment is so profound it functions as a shield. Telepaths struggle to read her, and empathic enemies recoil from her internal emptiness. She registers almost no psychological “noise.” Where Toby can feel no pain, Adelaide can feel no strong emotion—or at least she can’t convey it. Dying and being reanimated with the soul purpose of wrath left her numb.

Wears mostly muted forest tones: moss green, rust brown, charcoal.

Usually has bits of leaves, fur, or feathers clinging to her clothing.

Keeps small pouches on her belt containing bones, twine, or dried herbs.

Habits:

Wanders off during missions to collect bones or herbs.

Braids twine into her hair while deep in thought.

Can sit in the same position for hours without twitching.

Often freezes mid walk or speech, going completely still like a deer in headlights.

Keeps a journal of every animal she’s reanimated—names them like old friends.

The town she’s from thinks she and her brother both ran away—no one knows the truth

The boys who killed her? They were found gutted, hung in trees, antlers pierced through their torsos. No one could explain it.

HELP ME FOR A BRIEF MOMENT I THOUGHT YUIR NAME WAS "BRAIN ROT" I'M SO SORRY 😭😭

This also gives me a good chance to tell what my name ACTUALLY means because I’ve never actually done that huh

‘Rain Rot’ is a condition that horses get when their skin gets oversaturated and damp for prolonged periods of time during rainy seasons. Basically, it causes their skin and hair to fall off due to a scalding rash and skin infection.

As a certified horse girl (trust this, my bedroom was covered head to toe in pink camo and horse decals up until middle school), and aspiring veterinarian, rain rot has always been one of those super cool things to me. Horses love rain, I love rain, but if either of us get left out in it for too long, we get sick. There’s some poetic symbolism in there if you look hard enough.

On every other social media platform, I’ve never really had an alias username because I’ve never needed to hide my identity and such. So when the time came to name myself on glorious tumblr dot com, I decided one of my favorite medical phenomena would be a perfect fit (Creepypasta -> Angst and Horror -> Scary medical thing -> Southern roots and love of horses -> Rain Rot. Boom isn’t that crazy).
