Hi!! tysm for asking this, i love talking about my sick little creecher. This is. long. and very ramble-y but in my humble defense I've been playing her for like two years now and i think she is the worst girl in the world 💖

ooc background: so I play in a Princess: the Hopeful campaign, where we agreed that other rulebooks like vampires, changelings, and werewolves would be present as NPCs. (P:tH is just a fan playbook specifically for magical girl games, and at the time we wanted to play something Madoka-inspired.) I really trust my GM so I approached her like, 'heyyyy what if I played an evil character, like a magical girl that just hates humanity?' And my GM was like, 'well,, with the backstory you've presented there's not a lot of room for your character to have Blossomed (the trigger event for becoming a magical girl), but you could be something from a different playbook!' so we searched around and landed on Beast. we kind of read the book, worked around the (many‼️) problematic elements, and arrived at a canon that worked for us. most of the other players were. not aware that i was doing this. it was a lot of fun.
Ok actual lore: Emily Doe is the saddest, most pathetic, wet little dog out there. She's an Inguma, and her Horror is called the Songstress. She aged out of the foster system in Washington, and had a very rough childhood. She was devoured, and then killed her abusive foster parents at the age of 8. When our group decided that they actually prefered more of a Sailor Moon vibe as opposed to Madoka, a lot of elements of Emily's childhood (and subsequent crimes) were toned down, but that stayed. Following her double homocide, she did live a relatively normal and murderless life. Her Horror fed off of guilt, mostly, and so Emily would stoke the flames of terrible social environments and reap the "rewards". It definitely wasn't perfect and Emily didn't have a lot of control over her life. A lot of the cycles from her childhood repeated into early adulthood. Then, she met Cassia Lawrence, a girl who was essentially ready to kill herself on the night they met. Cassia talked to Emily, and they hit it off. This would become a generally disagreeable situation for everyone involved. After some time, Cassia revealed that the source of a lot of her misery was that she was a Princess (magical girl), and she felt suffocated by her role. She had a small fairy companion named He Who Is A Drop of Rain On A Wolfsbane In A Warm Summer’s Night That Shakes In The Soft Breeze, a shikigami advisor, who did sort of make things worse by pressuring Cassia to do more and more. Upon hearing this, Emily said she would "help," by taking Cassia's Phylactery(transformation object) and keeping it "safe" inside Emily's Lair(extradimensional space where her soul would be if the Songstress had not devoured it when she was 8). This, predictably, ended extremely poorly. The corrupting power of Light made it so that Emily now shared a bond with Raindrop Wolfsbane, and he blackmailed her into performing magical girl duties in Cassia's stead. After a lot of plot happens, she is able to Blossom, transforming of her own power, and cuts out the Songstress from herself, dying happy!
Except she doesn't die. Raindrop cuts his own soul out and transplants it into Emily, forcing her to live and deal with her decisions. He is reduced in power for a long while, and she has a soul now! and can feel guilt and remorse! and boy howdy that sucks.
