an excerpt from a shinsou x reader fic where you work at a cat cafe and shinsou is a regular
After the day he gave you his name, the two of you started having longer conversations. Sometimes, on days where nobody else walked in, the two of you spent the majority of his stay just conversing with one another.
Initially, you wondered if this was even allowed. Quickly, though, you came to the realization that Umi really didn’t care.
If anything, she encouraged it. She’s given you a look one too many times. Each time you shook your head at her vehemently, trying (and failing) to signal to her that your interactions with Shinsou were wholly platonic and you had no ulterior motives.
“Middle school? High school?” you ask, curious.
Shinsou smiles and you’re not sure if it’s supposed to be a grimace or an amused smirk. Was it possible for the smile to be both?
“High school,” he says, taking a sip of his coffee. “Though sometimes I wonder if I’m actually teaching elementary schoolers instead.”
You think back to your high school days. “Oho. The horny teenage energy too much for you to keep up with?”
“Why else do you think I need this much caffeine?”
