It was a kind of depressing day for Sou. But there was one thing that always made him feel better: Going online and feeling like someone powerful.

In the MMO called Shields of Faith: MagiWars or just Magiwars for short, he always could be just that. Someone strong others looked up to. Even though his character wasn’t a brawny one either. It was a dark mage class, the female version too. But his username Shinichi did give away that there was most likely a guy behind the seemingly cute avatar. 

He didn’t feel like doing any serious dungeons today and just lingered around the pvp area, a place to fight against other people’s characters. And as usual, he did beat any fool that dared to challenge him.

Once his ego was boosted enough though, he decided it was time to log off. So he typed his goodbye to his fellow players:

[ Shinichi ] Anyway, I will be offline for tonight, guys. Not like any of you guys can beat me anyway!

And with that, he wanted to log off, but the general chat suddenly became very active... What was happening?

[ general chat ]  Oh, look the Silversage is here!! I bet they can beat Shinichi!!

How foolish! Surely this was just another noob who thought they were ready to challenge someone of his caliber. 

[ Shinichi ] Who? Never heard of them lol.

He was so confident in his skills, that he didn’t even consider losing being a possibility!

[ Shinichi ] Well, I guess I could go for one more round before dinner. So come on, ‘Silversage’! Let’s start this, if you’re brave enough! 

[ Shinichi ] Wait, aren’t you a healer class? lmao. What are you even doing in this pvp area? You have a death-wish or something?

“Oh, you’re... another one?” Seles sighed, hands fidgeting with the sashes on her skirt. “Are you somehow here because of something my br- the Chosen One did?”

She knew it was an unfair assumption, and it wasn’t really possible, but she was still rather stressed and perhaps not being as polite as she should’ve been. Plus, it was rather odd to have run into yet another person that she somewhat recognized.

“Jeez, what is with this place?” He should have known better than to walk into the robotics area in a sleeveless shirt; it’s just like Rush Valley with all of these gearheads looking to take his arm apart to see what makes it tick. Maybe that’s part of why he stopped by Craft Punk, anyway-- it reminds him of someone.

...maybe he should get her a souvenir.

“Hey, can I sit here?” He finally finds a spot that isn’t crowded, taking a moment to catch his breath. This lady looks like she’s all by herself, hopefully he’s not intruding. “I feel like if I spend one more minute out there, someone’s going to try to take me apart for scrap metal.”

Kay puts her head on the table. doodling in the margins of her notebook. She’s about halfway done with the assignment Raine gave her, but math is always hard to focus on-- it just doesn’t catch her attention the way other subjects do.

“Hey Miss Raine, are we ever gonna do any history lessons?” It might be hard, she thinks, since neither of them are from this world to know its history. But after magic, history’s always been her favorite to learn.

“Maybe you could teach me about your world? And I can tell you what I know about my home-- grandpa told me all kinds of old drow stories and legends.”

The poor Troupe Master is shambling through the city when he really shouldn't be. He cleaned up, bandaged... but that was really all he could do at the moment without magic or medical help. Damn, it's all fun and games during the actual battle, but after that, being stuck with injuries is just plain annoying.

Where even is the clinic in this city? He doesn't know, absently staring through options on the phone looking for anything to tell him where he should be going. Grimm leans over and sighs, looking quite deflated.

...But when he looks back up, he sees someone in the distance! Someone with a staff! Has luck shined upon him on this day? Let it be true! He staggers over to the woman, trying to put on a nice face that doesn't completely say 'help I am dying.'

“My good lady! I do hate to interrupt your evening, but might you possibly be... a healer?!”

“Hey! Professor Sage!”

Though his greeting is casual, the relief is obvious within Lloyd’s eyes as soon as he spots his former teacher; grinning as he raises a gloved hand high above his head to wave her down. It felt like so long since he had last seen her and Genis before arriving here-- though he knew each of their journey’s would take them away from each other, it was still nice to reunite after all this time.

But how much had it been for her, exactly..? Wasn’t she trapped here longer than everyone else?

“It’s good to see you, teach! Genis said I might find you around here,” in a school setting, no less; and boy, was it ever overwhelming. He really hoped meeting Raine here didn’t end up being a bad idea on his part.. “I guess it’s kind of a loaded question to ask how you’ve been, considering everything.. but it looks like you’re adjusting back into school life pretty easily!”

Regal doesn’t need anything at the mall-- in fact, shopping is the farthest thing from his mind. He’s still taking in everything he’s learned about this place so far, and has taken to wandering to get the lay of the land. He simply followed the flow of foot traffic for a while, and it led him here. And though a mall is a great place to people-watch, there’s one person in particular that sticks out.

“Excuse me, Raine?”

She’s looking through the clothes rather intently, he notices... though he raises an eyebrow at the choices she’s pulled from the rack. What sort of outfit is she looking for, anyway?

“Please forgive me if I’m intruding on your shopping, but it’s a relief to see a familiar face.”

He’s not sure if it’s reassuring nobody in this city can apparently let something sit or if the return of chaos to his schedule is a relief preventing him from going crazy.

Did he touch the candies? Ha ha, no. Not after the island affair. He is not going to be voluntarily participating in anything the Stars indirectly ask of or suggest to him. No thank you, we have not earned that sort of trust.

It does mean that he’s been scrambling place to place a bit more nervously than usual, waiting for the other shoe to drop. 

(ha, shoes. As in, he is finally in fact wearing a pair. alright, they’re boots, but whatever.)

He’s also been hauling around jack-o-lantern which he’s forgotten at least twice, returning to the area and picking it up with a bit of an agitated motion before making a getaway to the roofs with the spider rune.

So, he’s halfway up a sheer wall before he notices that something’s a little bit off about this situation.
