I just want to say that this site has become my favorite! It's the first I check when I get home, and often the last one before I shut down the computer. While I miss Loki's occasional snarkiness, I love the creativity in the submissions paired with your choice of images. You two really do have a gift! Thank you so much for such a wonderful blog, ladies! Looking forward to more to come!
“I do hope you are thrilled to wetness that the snark is back. Tell me how much you missed your King.”
Imagine Loki meeting a woman during his attack of New York and thinking that she was killed - and his surprise at learning later that she is very alive. Imagine the silver-tongued God trying to earn her forgiveness.
This is the Amazing Person Award! Once you are given this award you are supposed to paste it in the ask of eight different people, who, in your opinion, deserve it. If you break the chain nothing will happen, but it’s sweet to know someone thinks you’re amazing inside and outside!

I sat down at the table and set up the board as Loki watched me curiously.
“So the object of this is to try to take over the world?” he asked cautiously. “Are you certain that this game is Director Fury approved?”
“He didn’t tell me it wasn’t. Besides, it’s just a game.”
“I fear it will be a short one, Agent.”
“Yeah, but you’ll get over it,” I said with a smirk as I grabbed the snacks off of the counter. “Now try the chips and guacamole and prepare to be defeated!”
I had to admit, despite his failure to take over New York, he was pretty good at this. It was taking longer than I expect to beat him. A couple of times, I wasn’t sure if he was letting me surpass him or not, as he recovered rather quickly.
Four hours later, I realized we hadn’t made dinner.
“So what kind of food do you want to try tonight?”
“What are my options?”
“Ummm…let’s see…Mexican, Greek, Italian, Indian, Thai?” I thought out loud. “I want to make homemade Mexican and Italian for your first time, so how about Thai?”
“What is it”
“Kind of like Chinese, but spicier.”
“That sounds good. Order whatever you think is best.”
“I can do that,” I said, as I eyed him suspiciously. “Meanwhile, you step away from that board and stay where I can see you until I get done ordering!”
Loki’s eyes widened and he put a hand to his chest. “Agent, I am shocked at your opinion of me! Don’t you trust me, even a little bit?”
“Would you,” I asked with a smile.
“Probably not, no,” he laughed as he walked into the living room.
We continued playing as we ate, neither willing to give the other a chance to plot a strategy too far in advance.
The ringing of my cellphone made us both jump.
“Drake here.”
“I want to talk to you about something, Drake. How soon can you meet me?”
“What time is it now, sir?”
“One o’clock.”
“In the morning?!”
“Is the sun up, Drake?”
“No, sir.”
“Then yes, in the morning!”
“I can meet you as soon as I can get there.”
A knock pounded on my door. “Nevermind, I’m here. Open the damn door.”
I rolled my eyes and hung up on him just before I opened the door. “Come in, sir.”
Fury walked in and looked around. “Nice job decorating, Drake. For what we paid, though, I expected gold plating.”
“Sorry, Director, they were all out of gold and silver is too hard to keep clean.”
Fury smiled. He looked at Loki, who eyed him suspiciously. “How’s the coaching going?” he asked as he walked over to the table.
“Well so far,” Loki replied coolly.
“Good.” Fury looked at the board game then back at me. “Risk, Drake? Are you kidding me?”
“No, sir. He played Life earlier, so it was either Risk or Grand Theft Auto.”
“I just have no words, Drake.”
I smiled. “Probably a good thing, sir.”
“So who’s winning?”
“Neither, so far. It’s been back and forth several times.”
“I see,” Fury said. “However, Drake, I need to speak to you privately about something.”
“Umm…Loki,” I said as I looked at him, “I’ll be back in a little while. You’ve put in well over your quota today, so feel free to do whatever you like.”
“I’ll do that. Would you like me to go to my room?” he asked almost sarcastically.
No, we’ll go somewhere else,” I said as Fury and I walked to the door.
“Are you kidding me?!” I asked, my voice raised and my face flushed. “You want me to do what?!”
“Drake, we’ve been monitoring every satellite out there and we’re coming up empty. We can either try to draw him out or you can spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder.”
“But he’ll just put a price on my head.”
“No, not if we play it right. Will you at least hear me out?”
“Sure, knock yourself out,” I said as I slumped back in my chair. I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to like this.
After he was finished, I thought it over a bit. “Can I give you an answer after I’ve slept on it?”
“You have until noon. I’ll need an answer by then.”
“Fair enough.”
“So how is he doing?” Fury asked.
“Okay so far. It’s only been a couple of days, though, so it’s hard to say for sure. He seems legitimately interested in trying, at least.”
“Would you turn your back on him in a fight?”
“No,” I said honestly. “But I wouldn’t turn my back on you in one, either.”
Fury nodded. “Noted.”
Loki was back in his chair reading when I returned.
“How was the meeting on my progress,” he asked.
“Short,” I said casually.
Loki rose and stalked toward me. “The least you could do is respect me enough to tell me the truth, Agent Drake. I think I’ve earned that much.”
“What are you talking about, Loki?”
“The private conversations about me, first on the phone, now this tonight. Why can’t they be held in my presence? Are you and Fury conspiring to return me to the dungeons of Asgard?” he practically snarled at me. His eyes were cold and angry, and his jaw was clenched. His hands were curling into fists and uncurling repeatedly, like he was fighting the urge to attack me.
I immediately circled so I was away from the wall. If he did attack, I wasn’t going to be trapped. I decided honesty might be the best policy.
“I lied about the phone call, Loki,” I began, watching him warily. “Fury and I were talking about the Gretzkov escape on the phone at the mall. And that was the topic of most of our conversation tonight as well.”
“Go on,” he said. I could tell by his intense gaze that he was reading me like a book.
“He asked how you were doing and I told him that, so far, you were doing well. I also told him it was still early in the game, so I couldn’t give a definitive report yet.”
He continued to hold my gaze, as if testing the truth of my words. Finally, he appeared to relax.
“Speaking of games, you are quite good at domination. If I’d had you laying out my strategy instead of the Chitauri, I might have succeeded.”
“Had you made your own plans,” I smiled, “you might have as well.”
“Care to see if we can take over the world together?”
“Loki! You know that’s not gonna help your cause! Comments like that will not get you released!”
“Are you going to tell Fury? Add it to your report?”
“Of course not. I’d like to think it was just a joke in poor taste.”
He nodded. “Perhaps you’re not trying to sabotage me after all.”
“No, I’m not. If you fail, it means I did. And I hate to fail.”
“Very well. Good night, Agent Drake.” He turned and went to his room.
I heard the door close and turned around, expecting to see Loki returning to the apartment. Instead, it was Nicolai standing there. I screamed in horror. Prison hadn’t changed him at all. His curly dark hair still fell between his shoulder blades, still pulled back in a ponytail at the nape of his neck. He still wore the goatee. And his eyes were still dark pools that threatened to suck me in, only this time they burned with hatred. I was frozen in terror, still and silent.
“I will kill you for betraying me, bitch! How dare you?!” he said as he closed the distance between us. With one hand on my throat and one on my shoulder, he pinned me against the fridge.
“No one betrays me and gets away with it, Bella,” he sneered at me. “Or should I say Katelyn?”
He began shaking my shoulder as his grip on my throat tightened even more, my name from his lips echoing in my head over and over. I managed to reach the gun tucked in the back of my jeans and pulled it on him, the muzzle of the baretta resting against his forehead as he continued to say my name…
“Katelyn! Wake up!”
I opened my eyes and looked at Loki with first confusion, then horror. His hand was on my shoulder as though he’d tried to shake me awake; my gun was, in fact, pointed at his forehead.
“Will you please point that damned thing somewhere else?” he snapped.
I lowered it slowly, still trembling and trying to shake off the nightmare.
“Are you alright?” he asked gently.
“Yeah, it was just a nightmare,” I told him. “What did you want?”
“To wake you. I heard you scream and came to see if you were alright. I tried to shake you awake, but you pulled that damned gun on me.”
“I’m really sorry, Loki. I wouldn’t have done it if I’d been awake.”
“Why is the name of Asgard would you sleep with that thing under your pillow?”
“Because my nightmares are real, and it’s the only thing that makes me feel safer,” I said quietly.
“Do you wish to talk about it?”
I smiled at him and shook my head. “Not right now. But thank you for the offer. And for waking me up.”
He rose and walked to the door. “Very well. Good night, Agent.”
“Wait,” I said, suddenly remembering. “You called me Katelyn when you were trying to wake me up.”
“Really? Slip of the tongue,” he said with a smirk. “It won’t happen again.”
Then he chuckled as he shut the door behind him.
I picked up my cellphone and dialed Fury’s number. As soon as he answered, I said “let’s do it.”
“Okay. I’ll get it set up and then brief you.”
I laid back down and found myself smiling at the sound of my name falling from Loki’s lips.
