Over the past ten days, the Ukrainian Air Force has shot down ten Russian military aircraft used to target both military personnel and civilians in Ukraine. Among them was the A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft, built to detect and track air and surface targets, guide fighter jets, and serve as an air command post.
Another Russian A-50 aircraft was destroyed earlier in 2024. With only six of these aircraft remaining in Russia’s arsenal and no capacity to build new ones, the impact of each loss on Russian reconnaissance is substantial.
