oom stands for Out Of Mind. There's this really lovely lyric comic by @kitsoa and it was just begging to be made into a video. here's a wip of it! I'm learning so many things in Da Vinci Resolve to make it cool...

what’s the most fun and the least fun parts about your process

OH BOY.

So I'm someone more motivated by the prospect of the final product than I am the actual process of creating it (sorry... I don't like drawing digitally but it's even harder to draw traditionally if I intend on posting it online so the fun in the process was traded in for convenience...)

The most fun part I think is sketching! Creating compositions, nailing down anatomy, that stuff! You're a fellow artist so I think you can understand— there's a moment where the lines you draw have life breathed into them, and it stops being a collection of lines and starts being the thing you're trying to make. My motivation typically doesn't last very long after my drawing comes alive but I love that part of creating— making something out of nothing!!

Now, making that something good is a whole other story...

The least fun part of my process is probably doing the linework. I'm getting better at linework, but it's such a slog... it's such slow going... I feel like I'm going insane sometimes when I do it. The final lines don't even look that much more different from the clean sketch!

Tied with linework— if I don't have linework and I'm going directly into a painting without a reference, getting down the value structure can be really frustrating for me sometimes. Most times, actually. I think my standards for painting are pretty high because of the figure painting class I took, so it takes quite a long time for me to be satisfied with a painting.
