who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter //         I’m not sure ??? tho I will say that I’m attached to Hera the Werewolf Hunter, but I feel like trying to hunt down werewolf!Atlas would be more trouble than she realizes and then she’d end up bitten and becoming a werewolf??

who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman //       Hera as the mermaid and Atlas as the fisherman.  Though considering Hya’s history with water nymphs, like… this could easily get dark, with Atlas trying to find out who killed his son and Hera agreeing to help him (except maybe she just wants to drown him too).  

who’s the witch and who’s the familiar //         This is so hard!  I want to say that it can go either way, but also if Hera’s the familiar, she’s probably just a very young drakon (so… not actually a familiar-type species, but confused for something else) and possibly something similar for Atlas except Hera just. Is Determined to get the biggest and baddest familiar.  But maybe they’re both witches and they’re doing familiar pokemon battles.

who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict //           Plot twist!  They’re both coffee addicts and neither of them are baristas, but they keep bumping into each other at the coffee shop and sniping at each other because they’re both assholes in the morning.  

who’s the professor and who’s the TA //           Atlas as the professor and Hera as the TA, but Hera isn’t actually TAing for Atlas, she’s TAing for…  IDK someone else?? and Atlas is friends with the other professor and Hera fucking HATES HIM because he likes messing with her because he’s a jerk :/ and she has a short fuse and one of these days she’s going to pepper spray him on “accident”.

who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss) //            Atlas is the knight-commander and Hera is the princess.  Which, you know, canon if they’re on opposite sides.  

who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent //             They’re both single parents and teachers.  Specifically, they’re high school teachers and if we want to go REALLY wild, their older children already graduated high school and Hera’s youngest daughter becomes best friends with Atlas’ grandson in pre-school.  

who’s the writer and who’s the editor //             Atlas as the writer and Hera as his new editor.  Let’s say he’s a bestselling author that’s been dragging his feet on the newest installment of his (whatever genre) series after a family tragedy sapped his desire to write/live and Hera just recently got assigned to be his editor as punishment after she went off on one of her bosses.

i just want to say that i appreciate how atlas and hera are both in a similar place in terms of not really wanting a romantic relationship or to build towards something serious.  like they both kind of want similar things from each other which definitely doesn’t involve the baby aynsley and i are giving them.

im trying to ask1 hera how she feels about atlas2 ( @raisethesky ) and once i can get some sort of answer out of her, she just--- a;lksjdf;laksjdf

she says she likes him and that she likes the way he makes her feel, because she feels good around him.  

so i ask her if she loves him (because im trash 4 hera/atlas and ayns can attest) and hera just goes reeeeeeaaaaaaal quiet because “no.  no, definitely not that.”  

and i ask her why ?? and she doesn’t quite say it, but it’s heavily implied that he doesn’t fuck her up emotionally for her to think of it as romantic love.  

because being in love feels like you’re being swallowed whole.  and hera wtf is that shit????

1.  I’m sitting her down and forcing her to pretend-talk to someone.  I’m assuming it’s Hestia because you can’t lie to your Big Sis.  (Don’t question my methods).  I mean, at first I tried to see how a conversation with Zeus would pan out but then Hera went “That’s None Of Your Business I Am Not Answering That”, so.  

2.  Vaguely setting this in the future when she’s pregnant bc, you know, drama.

      HOO BOY, WHERE DO I START?!  First of all, I’ve written about them here and there, but I haven’t said anything really in depth since that first post, have I?  

       OK, so a big thing about Hera and Atlas in their modern verse is how they end up falling into things without meaning to.  Things just sort of Happen, and there’s this reluctance on both ends when it comes to examining the why and the how of it.  Don’t question it, just roll with it—and that’s not something that Hera usually indulges in.  

        It speaks to the part of her that’s tired of being so cautious all the time.  Always looking ahead towards the consequences to both her words and actions.  It’s exhausting to remain so tightly coiled all the time—to stay so careful and restrained—and it’s unbelievably tempting to throw caution to the wind and act on her whims.  And she does, at least when she’s around him.  

        Not that she’s suddenly acting on all of her impulses, because Hera is way too practiced at restraining herself to just !!! let herself go all the way.  But it’s almost like...  each time she acts on an impulse, it’s harder for her to deny herself the next.  

         That’s his effect on her in a nutshell, really.  Atlas destabilizes her, he throws her off guard, off her game.  It’s a dangerous place to be put, but a part of Hera will always crave that sort of unsettling, that kind of chaos.  She wants to be in control, but she needs that control to be challenged in order to thrive.  

          She just won’t ever own up to it and loudly deny that it’s something that’s essential to her being because of her long-standing communication issues, but also because she can’t just hand you the instruction manual.  You need to take it from her.  But only if she’s OK with you taking them.  Not that she’s going to tell you one way or the other.  Hera WTF

           BUT BACK TO ATLAS AND THEIR DYNAMIC---gosh can you believe the two of them and how they’re ??? both like:  *chin in hand*  OK, but what am I feeling, exactly?  Like they’re so fucking middle school about all of this it’s hilarious and sad?? at the same time ?? like “ok, i like her/him, but do i like-like ‘em?”  WTF YOU’RE MILLENNIA OLD WHY ARE YOU SO BAD AT FEELINGS.  WHY ARE YOU SO BAD AT BEING EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS?!  Trauma, the answer is trauma.
