Raja parba is the most popular among numerous festivals in Odisha, as per mythologycal story, it’s a festival to celebrate Mother Earth’s menstrual cycle and nothing is done which can hurt Mother Earth like construction or tilling etc and also celebrates womanhood. The three days are celebrated by having fun, swinging, playing cards and Ludo, eating so many varieties of pithas, wearing new clothes, getting dolled up and wearing Alata on their feet. Eating"Poda pitha" is must made. Savouring "Pakhala bhata" or water rice is a typical food eaten during Raja. Pakhala symbolizes Odia food habits and reparations. So we all strive to enrich it and play a role to upload the honour of our cultural identity. In Pahili raja Mangsa Kassa or tarkari is must in Odia families. Odias are particularly proud of our mutton curry, specially the mati handi version.
