RIP Ralph Santolla
Deicide - Death to Jesus
The only Deicide album that I listen to is the Stench of Redemption. The main reason being Ralph Santolla’s insane leadwork. He may not have stayed with the band long... or any band for that matter, but the man was simply a fucking wizard on the damn axe. He was just that good!
Ralph passed away on June 6, 2018.
R.I.P. Ralph Santolla.

Journeyman Guitarist Ralph Santolla Dead at 48
Ralph Santolla, the journeyman heavy-metal guitarist who played with Deicide, Iced Earth, Sebastian Bach, Obituary and others, has died at 48.
”The world has lost another amazing talent,” Iced Earth wrote on its Facebook page in announcing Santolla’s death.
”His spirit lives on and his gift will continue to inspire us through his recordings for many years to come. All Iced Earth members, past and present, send our condolences to the Santolla family.”
The guitarist had been in a coma since suffering a heart attack May 30 and died June 6 after being taken off life support.
”Thanks for the music and the fun times,” Bach tweeted. “My condolences to the Santolla family.”
Richard Christy took to Twitter to remember “my Metal Brother in Iced Earth” and “so many great times on tour with Ralph.
”Can’t believe he’s gone,” he said. “Such a funny, talented and genuinely friendly guy, please crank up his many bands in his memory tonight.”

This is very sad and devastating. I was waiting to hear some good news from you but no, it didn’t happen. Rest in eternal peace Ralph, you the mighty fucking beast. You changed death metal guitar solos forever and gave it a new meaning.
