So here’s where they fucked up. They wanted to go another direction with the Halloween movies, making each one about spooky Halloween stuff. But with 2 movies in the series about Michael Myers, to redirect it in the third is an obvious mistake. People automatically connect Halloween to Michael, so to see a movie with his draw and not even have him in it is a major disappointment. I always wondered why it was so different. This movie has NO Michael Myers, and treats the first 2 films as if they were fictitious, because there’s a trailer for it on a tv. It’s about an evil mask factory on Halloween turning Halloween into its original intention involving witchcraft (although that is entirely untrue, Halloween’s origins have zero to do with witches or evil). And it’s awful. It would have been an alright stand-alone film in 1970, though, with no attachment to Halloween. But 35 years later, I’m offended by the idea that it’s part of the Halloween franchise forever.
