[ Spoilers for Apollo Justice , Dual Destines , and Spirit of Justice ahead! ]

Apollo’s life has not been for the weak like:

-Biological father is murdered

-He is barely saved from a fire as an infant

-He’s separated from his mother with no way to find her and no connection but a bracelet

-Grows up loved but actively hunted down by a cruel regime that forces him and his adoptive family into hiding

-Nearly drowns alongside his adoptive brother

-Forced to leave his home at age 9 all by himself, completely separated from everyone and everything that he’s ever known

-Presumably miserable for years (“I’m Apollo Justice and I’m FINE” yeah sure kid) until he finally makes a true friend (😬)

-His idol, a defense attorney like his father, is disbarred for forged evidence, but even still he moves to become a full-fledged defense attorney

-Oops he found out his boss was a murderer

-Then he was tricked into using fake evidence by his idol and his idol’s daughter

-New boss honestly doesn’t treat him with respect at all and doesn’t for a While

-Has to get a mob boss’s son off of a murder charge

-Dealt with Wesley Stickler.

-Watched a man die right in front of him

-Almost watched a girl die later to poison

-His old boss is back for a round 2 murder trial

-His new boss used him as a pawn to his game

-Lost his best friend

-Was seriously injured due to a bomb

-Was later assaulted via rock to the head and had his own assault used as forged evidence

-Isolated himself due to suspecting his coworker and had to impede his own abilities to keep sane, later invokes the image of his evil old boss in the process whoops

-His close friend (and secret half-sister) is kidnapped and held hostage by someone he has ties to through his Dead Best Friend

-Re-traumatized by past abandonment issues coming out full force by new boss’s sudden vacation to the country he’s a refugee from and the sudden appearance of his adoptive brother

-Nearly lost their workplace and his secret half sister

-Nearly drowned horrifically all alone just after reuniting with his adoptive father who kinda abandoned him a little (for his own good)

-Humiliated via sudden strip search

-Nearly executed

-Father he thought completely abandoned him and returned was actually dead all along aw man

-Has to go and win a near impossible trial anyway even with this knowledge and guns trained on him

-Forced to pick between his old home and his new one (for now at least)

-Chooses old one, has to build entire legal system back up from basically nothing

-Constantly works 24/7 for everyone with anything for nothing, needs a vacation DESPERATELY

Turns out my characters all have complex feelings toward the seasons. I wrote heaps more for these, which I'll probably expand on someday! For now, though, here's just the tl;dr:

Aeryn enjoys watching the world change around her as the seasons come and go and is partial to them all! She might murmur something about autumn in the shroud, though, if pressed.

Kitoto loves any season except winter, which reminds her of long, cold, lonely days stuck (mostly) indoors while her papa was away.

Eiyre still thinks fondly of winters in her seaside hamlet, but the season now feels bittersweet after her time in Ishgard. She's recently grown partial to early spring.

Tristan would say winter, though he used to prefer autumn before his "death."

Eirwen would gush about the holidays and cozy clothes of winter, but she's truly more of a summer child! Though she hates to sweat, she lives for time outdoors and long days filled with sunshine.

Secrets for Aeryn behind the cut! (Sort of.)

💛 4. Does your OC have many secrets? Would they ever tell a person these secrets? 💛

Aeryn has a handful, but they aren't (initially) intentional. What secrets she keeps are often because she doesn't recognize or have words to express what they are until long after the fact. Her realization that she wants to stop fighting is one such example—though she does hold onto that one for a while out of shame. Another example is how very long it takes her to first work out and then verbalize how hurt she's been by Urianger's lies. (I've not written it, yet, but I don't think she manages to bring it up at all—including the lies in HW—until early Endwalker.)

She's so quiet that it's rare for her to voluntarily open up about her secrets (accidental or otherwise)—but she would, in her own time, share with anyone who asks, particularly with trusted friends. Most don't ask, simply in efforts to respect her limited privacy. Anyone who did ask, however, must be observant enough to understand that Aeryn's reticence doesn't represent either withdrawal or distrust; and they must be patient enough to wait while she finds both the courage and the words she needs to express herself. (One of the reasons she opens up to Urianger a bit more naturally from the beginning is how cautious he is when asking her questions: he's slow and patient and never offended if she can't manage the words to answer him.)

/SPOILERS FOR MIDNIGHT BURGER! CHAPTER 34 (a few thoughts)

Thinking about Caspar's heartbreaking "You hear it too?" line in the latest episode. Other than believing he'd gone insane, he could've also thought he was stuck in some kind of purgatory, doomed to an eternal food service. And he just kind of. accepted that.

No wonder he really fucking panicked when he started hearing numbers in his head

This also coincides with what Teta implied, that it seems like Caspar is living in a prison. Now, connect that with the song Libuza sings (the song he sang for his son) whose title is Someone To Love Me (The Prisoner Song) It appears there is somewhat a reoccurring theme around him of seeing the diner as a prison. It might be setting up something in the future.

Also, I wonder why Caspar forgot about the three sisters. They made it seem like he was destined to forget them. Zeb and Effie said too that they wouldn't let him forget the three sisters either. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't follow through with it or at least reminisce about them every five or two years or so—

so why and how did Caspar forget? What about Zeb and Effie? Did they forget too? I assume it must be because it's been soooo long? But I can't help but think that there might be more to it? Idk?

Desperately wishing for some smart people out there to make an estimated timeline (haha) with an approximation of everyone's age or the year they hopped in the diner. Like we know Caspar is probably two or three years older than Ava I think? And Leif is supposedly forty? Yes.

I think the main thing that draws me to Liu Qingge as a love interest is his sheer sincerity. Everything that he is, everything that he does, is just overflowing with this desire to be authentic. 

He’s terrible at expressing himself verbally, he’s easily embarrassed, he’s not excellent at reading between the lines! This is known! He knows it himself! It frustrates him, both to misunderstand and to be misunderstood. It’s half the reason he could not leave Shen Jiu alone! It’s why Shen Yuan manages to smash past his defenses so quickly!

The cornerstone upon which Liu Qingge has built himself is to see his promises, his intentions, through to the end, regardless of anyone else’s understanding of it. His greatest fear? It’s not being weak or losing his pride - fighting for Shen Qingqui’s body proves that - but about losing this form of self-expression. Losing his ability to do, physically, symbolically, through gesture after gesture after gesture, what he must to carry out his heart’s desires. 

Ah, there’s something so earnest about the man who cannot call someone a friend, but can seek out and return their lost fans. Fight to give their body a grave, even if it means destroying his title. Who can lose someone for years, and upon their return only ask them to stay. There’s such earnestness in his steadfastness, in his sheer reliability, in how humble he is about it all - he is only doing as he sees fit, with no pretension. 

Compared with Shen Yuan, disaster weasel man extraordinaire, it’s almost unbearably sweet. Yet it matches Mr. “my words and actions are completely different” extremely well? Very compatible and harmonious, with a simultaneous reaching out and recognition of a lack of understanding that must be bridged. 

What can I say? I love a love interest who cannot talk the talk, but can and WILL walk the walk in increasingly obvious ways as a series progresses.

stottlemonk au idea - married leland/adrian.

-> adrian is either a detective in a whole other precinct or he works as an editor/writer.

-> his co-workers/partners always ask him to come out with them but he always goes "sorry, i need to be home for dinner."

-> they assume he just really wants to spend time with his wife.

-> "whoever's married to him is one patient woman." / "or a pretty lucky person."

-> Adrian finally attends one game night and he enjoys it. his co-workers ask him to bring over whoever he wants. No pressure. They win the pub quiz btw.

-> "I can bring Leland..." and they're all just nodding cause yeah why the hell not. bring your wife mr. monk. bring your best friend. bring your cousin. feel free

-> the next game night, Adrian does end up showing up. In tow though, is a guy who looks very much like he could knock you out for just breathing in his direction. Rugby shoulders, mustache, ruggedly handsome.

-> "Who is that?" / "Can't be his brother..." / "Maybe a friend?"
