It's funny that Tengen went through Jaime Lannister schooling issue. Remember how proud and annoying he was until his ego was literally 'cut' off ( his swordsman hand & eye )? It polished significantly his personality by permanently instilling sense for humility, compassion ( I'm not saying it wasn't there before ; just now it's enhanced for he now knows how it feels to lose worth and perfection after constant boastering of his kami-like nature ) and even improved his manners / behaviour towards others. Yeah, he's totally a lesser sh*t then he used to be ; unless he trains newbies, then he's so back to his old self.
