Ramos Dragon Engine - Joseph Meehan
Story from Magic Pride night*. The LGS owner reminded us during event kickoff that whoever your partner commanders are, they're in love. I brought a Ramos and Progenitus (cards pasted below) deck I spent over a month assembling. Most others were just pulling an extra legendary out of their decks to be a second commander. One person said that the concept that your commanders are in love is a bit weird because the extra legend he pulled from his deck is a squirrel. I responded that furries are part of Pride too, and he just nodded and went on with the game. * For those who don't know, Commander is a Magic format where you choose a Legendary Creature to be the general of sorts of your deck. Some commanders can be co-commanders with others, a mechanic typically called "partner". For this event, all commanders have partner.
(In case someone wonders how it went. I went one for five in a pod of four. In the last turn Ramos provided the mana to cast Progenitus, with the resulting trigger and a bunch of counter enhancers and doublers leading me to swing for 54 damage to close out the game. You can find the decklist on Archidekt at this link.)
[Image ID: A Magic: The Gathering card called "Ramos, Dragon Engine". It costs 6 generic mana to cast. The art depicts a clearly artificial, bronze-colored dragon standing on a mossy, indistinct surface. It has two horns, a head without obvious eyes, and a neck about the length of its torso. Its wings are held mostly flat and go off the edge of the frame. Its tail is many times the length of the rest of its body and stretches far into the background. The viewpoint of the art is angled somewhat upward, giving the impression that the viewer is partially obscured behind a low hill in the foreground to look at the dragon. The type line reads "Legendary Artifact Creature — Dragon". The rules text reads "Flying Whenever you cast a spell, put a +1/+1 counter on Ramos for each of that spell's colors. Remove five +1/+1 counters from Ramos: Add two mana of each color. Activate only once each turn. It has power and toughness 4/4. The artist is Joseph Meehan. /.End ID]

A Magic: The Gathering card called "Progenitus". It costs two of each color of mana to cast. The art depicts a large hydra with at least four heads in the far distance, partially obscured by clouds and looming over a landscape of trees and water. The type line reads "Legendary Creature — Hydra Avatar". The rules text reads "Protection from everything If Progenitus would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, reveal Progenitus and shuffle it into its owners library instead." The flavor text reads "The Soul of the World has returned." It has power and toughness 10/10. The artist is Jaime Jones. /.End ID]
