Ramzi Mallat - 'Shock and Awe'

This Arabic saying translates to “Magic of the East” and becomes “Magic of Evil” as the last letter fades from the composition.

Provocatively titled 'Shock & Awe', Ramzi Mallat (@ramzimallatstudio) reflects the dichotomy of perspectives in which the Middle East is portrayed.

The neon sign and accompanying prints are on display as part of 'Fault Lines', a solo exhibition by Ramzi Mallat at P21 Gallery which has been extended until 2 December.

Ramzi Mallat - 'Knacker's Yard'

This work is a wall-mounted triptych minimal trompe-l’œil rendering of the Lebanese Parliament building, it’s minimalist shape referencing the hierarchal distribution of power among the country’s three predominant religions: Maronites, Sunnis and Shias.

The work is on display as part of 'Fault Lines', a solo exhibition by Ramzi Mallat (@ramzimallatstudio) at P21 Gallery until 25 November.

A limited edition of unique prints will be on sale with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Medical Aid Palestine (@medicalaidpal) as part of 'Fault Lines', a solo exhibition by Ramzi Mallat at P21 Gallery from 9 to 25 November 2023.

Ramzi Mallat - 'Sobhiye'

Shot in Lebanon between October 2019 and August 2021, this short documentary follows the daily life of five individuals located in Tripoli, Bekaa and Sour, shedding light on the personal hardships caused by the tumultuous socio-political crises that have unravelled in the country.

The film also featured in the 'Official Selection' of the Scarab Film Festival in Dubai, UAE, the Story International Student Film Festival in Cork, Ireland and the Lebanese Independent Film Festival in Beirut, Lebanon.

'Sobhiye' will be screened as part of 'Fault Lines', a solo exhibition by Ramzi Mallat at P21 Gallery from 9 to 25 November 2023.

Ramzi Mallat - Fault Lines Solo Exhibition at P21 Gallery

P21 are pleased to announce exhibition by Lebanese artist Ramzi Mallat.

Fault Lines is a solo presentation of recent works by Lebanese artist Ramzi Mallat, curated by Kirsty Flockhart.

The exhibition title makes reference to the geological and cultural divisions that inform the artist's practice.

Living and working between London and Beirut, Mallat explores the socio-political impact of globalisation on notions of identity and self.

He hopes to broaden cross-cultural awareness with works that blend familiar and unfamiliar aspects of culture and question the idea of the respective Other.
