sooo i first watched Monk when i was 16 but never finished the last 2 seasons 😭 now i’m 18 and finally gonna watch them to jog my memory and finish the show, then watch the movies
the thing is… i accidentally spoiled Randy/Sharona on a subreddit 😭 and honestly? it just made me go ??? like, from what i remember Randy liked her but Sharona didn’t really show the same vibes back. their “relationship” wasn’t really built up; it’s mostly him having a crush, some jokes, just familiarity, and then suddenly they’re together, and it kind of feels like she just goes along with it because it’s there and comfortable, not because it’s really her intentional choice; like she’s had a bunch of other relationships that didn’t work out, she knows Randy likes her, and it’s just… the option that’s there. not in a bad way, just how it feels to me
Natalie and Randy never had an actual romance on screen either, but honestly their dynamic actually made sense for a relationship; mutual respect, emotionally open, balanced, feels way more believable to me, even if nothing happens
i think a lot of the fandom prefers Sharona over Natalie; they see Randy liked her first, and then it gets shrugged off like “oh yeah that’s canon” but for me, canon doesn’t automatically make it feel real or earned 😅
also this isn’t me saying anyone who ships Randy and Sharona is wrong or anything, it’s just how i personally see their relationship and why i personally prefer Natalie with Randy
anyway, that’s my brain thinking out loud while revisiting the show; curious if anyone else notices this or feels differently
