[10.30 pm] man in the mirror (a random idea)
This is kind of a random idea I had while listening to escape...so I don't know what to call this? Random thought? Something I write that would never be a full story? Who knows 😮💨 Don't worry, I have plenty soft and cute fic ideas to write later on :3
Warning: it's a bit horror (?)
“Is your world really that beautiful?” A curious tilt to her head as she folded her legs on the floor, eyes glimmering in curiosity. The evening ray filtering through the window seemed to beam alongside the man in the mirror’s smile. He nodded vigorously, a soft smile on display as he knocked on the mirror surface. The mirror vibrated — imitating the water when a stone was thrown into it.
“It is! But it’s such a shame I couldn't show it to you” His excitement contorted into disappointment, his eyebrows furrowed as a low exhale followed. His shoulder slumped forward and she couldn't stop the empathy from building inside of her.
Chan’s universe was a wonder…and a mystery at once. He once told about the golden autumn leaves that change into any colour your heart desires, how the stars glimmer more until they outshine the moon — and a crescent sun that was their light source.
It was different
It was something that made her want to wander in his world.
To experience a day in his world
To escape from her pain for a while
“Wait, I just remember” his eyes lit up immediately as he scrambled to his legs. Her gaze followed his fading silhouette from the mirror before he returned with an ancient book in his grip; his lips widened into a loop-side grin that she had come to recognize and adore through the months they knew each other.
“I’ll fulfill your fantasies but you need to leave your world forever. Is that what you want?”
Her breath stuck in her throat. Leave this world forever? Wouldn't that mean she would betray Ryujin? Her aunt and uncle? Her parents?
“I know your pain, Y/N. Losing both of your parents, losing your friends, it feels like the worlds around you crumple apart, right?”
She nodded meekly as her eyes collided with his, the usual warmth in his eyes easing the guilt in her heart — and yet, she couldn't brush off the suspicious dawning on her. His demeanour was odd…the warmth in his eyes wasn't sincere; he was doing it on purpose to appear normal.
“But they would be worried if I’m gone”
“Who? Your aunt and uncle? Your cousin? Y/N, they take care of you because they're responsible for it. They promised your parents that. But where were they when the fear began to consume you? Where were they when you cried because you missed your parents?”
He was right nevertheless “It was you”
“It's always been me. So…”
He extended his hand out of the mirror; the surface of his wrist seemed to vibrate as he opened his palm, a gesture of invitation. The sound of her heartbeat echoed in her ear as she stood up.
Was this the right decision?
“Come with me. It’ll be alright” He said softly
Inhaling a deep breath, she reached for his hand.
Suddenly, her body was hauled to the side before a loud thud echoed throughout the room, the shards from the mirror flying across the room. A loud distorted scream rang eerily in their ear.
She shut her eyes, waiting for the pain to course through her body; instead, she heard a low groaning in front of her and someone's breath brushing her face. Unfolding her eyes, her eyes widened in surprise.
Hyunjin raised his head, a shaky breath escaping him as he peeked behind him. The scattered shards on the floors, bits of blood that were decorating the edges of the shards and— Chan’s daunting eyes taking over the leftover surface of the mirror.
Chan’s glare pierced through Hyunjin's gaze, sending a light shiver to the latter's spine. Hyunjin's jaw clenched as he planted his feet on the floor, gaining a bit leftover of his strength to grab the hammer he left by the door.
He approached the mirror, grunting through pain from the shards piercing into his back.
“You don't belong here, demon” he slammed the hammer into the mirror, erasing every trace of Chan's existence from the world
