Okay… random transformers idea

Take the idea of IDW Ultra Magnus armour… but Megatron

The Decepticons NEED a Megatron to lead in this universe, and so instead of admitting he died they just replace him

And because of this, the different Megatrons lead to every single canon characterization we have - the supervillain from pre-mtmte IDW, the sharp tongued manipulator from TFA, the idiot from G1, and so on

Soundwave and Shockwave are behind this scheme, while Starscream is left out of the loop and so he thinks Megatron just WONT DIE and every time he comes back he comes back different. Starscream doesn’t realize how unusual it is because he didn’t know his immortal spark was an outlier and if he could survive the impossible then maybe Megatron could too.

Shockwave is the one who basically sets up every Megatron to be good on strength and whatever he might need, while Soundwave came up with the idea out of both grief and practicality. Basically Soundwave can’t accept Megatron’s death, and so comes to see Megatron as a legacy he guards rather than the friend he once was. But also if the Decepticons had to find a new leader, it would tear the faction apart, so there is some logic to it. Once the war ends… he has a lot to work through with processing his grief.

The last Megatron to take power is the one to make peace, I’m thinking probably an Earthspark or Lost Light Megs personality wise, and eventually tells Optimus that he isn’t the old friend he thought he was. Optimus though, after getting over the admittedly large hump of “my friend has been dead and his corpse has been used as a political and military figure for millions of years”, does accept this new Megatron as a friend - not an old one, but a new one, the one who brought peace.

If you wanna add even more angst, maybe every Megatron is brainwashed into thinking he IS Megatron and the last one found out only after the war and found the records of what happened - and confirmed it with Shockwave. Maybe they’ve had memories implanted, so they retain parts of the original Megatron but aren’t him.

drug dealer ghost hiding away his fixes whenever they come around. knowing the was the person that brought them onto his path. quick money was what he cared. but after seeing them make quicker runs. forget their money and basically ruin themselves into madness he promised he'd stop supplying them.

was it a good idea? no. he knew. but fhe guilt of keeping their habit going even after they had grown so much to him. he couldn't do it. couldn't physically handle watching them snort more lines and swallow more pills. no matter how much they screamed, yelled and hit him weakly against the chest. he would've much rather them get into a verbal fight rather then having to pick up their lifeless body after a reckless decision.

he couldn't do it. his hands coming up to brush stray tears away from their face, watching as their teeth chattered and cries subsided. they had to be strong he knew. he'd be there for them. and he'd probably have to get his head straight. watching them break down like this. fuck. get it together.

Okay so theory time.

There was a lot of talk this episode about how it was too good a coincidence for the Alphas to show up and then the murders started.

But the Alphas had been around for a while, and the twins were clearly clueless, lbh.  The murders didn't start until a little while ago.  Specifically, on the full moon.

And who were we introduced to then?  Who has a kind of odd, inconsistent back story but hasn't been questioned?  Who's presence has helped to throw everything out of control, and who our dear Chemistry Teacher knew?

There are two possibilities that aren't the Alphas, but with this show's track record, I'm willing to bet the murders have to do with Cora.
