I've started college now and I work with the animals in the college.
Beyoncé.
My company is starting to work out its plan to allow people to come back to the offices again.
We have offices across the country, and each one will have a separate timeline and approach. It will be a long time before the New York office reopens. For my office, the earliest would be the second week of July, but that hasn’t been formalized yet, and no one will be required to come back then or at all.
I don’t like working from home, and I know it would be better for my mental and emotional health to be with people again, even at a distance. I’m just scared. I’m so fortunate to have choices, and I’m grateful every day. The the fear and uncertainty is just unnerving.
My wife was at a random volunteer thing in Minneapolis and she got to talking with a lady from Iowa who was soon leaving for a second stint as an English teacher in Bangkok. My wife told her about my Thai lessons and the lady asked how I got into it and my wife started explaining BL and the lady was like “no way—me too!”
Then they started talking shop except my wife has no actual knowledge apart from snippets she’s retained from me talking about it constantly. But the lady was thrilled to meet someone who even knew about BL especially Thai BL.
My wife told me “She’s toured the GMM building and met somebody big! Johnny Song or something.”
It took me a while to realize she was talking about JimmySea—lol my wife didn’t realize it was two people but when I suggested that she was like “Yes! That was it!”
But anyway, that’s the closest I’ve ever come to meeting a BL fan in real life (even though I didn’t actually meet her). My wife and I were both very excited about it. And I’m now 3 degrees of separation from JimmySea!
I’m at my kid’s first gender care appointment and jesus christ. The rest of the country could be like this so easily if everyone would stop being so frigging mean. It wouldn’t cost or inconvenience anyone to just accept people the way they want to be.
I am out of sorts. And what with tariffs, and the supply chain being what it is these days, I’m not sure when they’ll be in stock again.
My 90something dad, formerly Republican (only voted for Tr*mp the first time then abandoned the party), has been helping some Chinese pals study for their citizenship test. Called me today “well Tr*mp’s at it again”—apparently they just changed the test to be longer and harder. But Dad and his friends aren’t giving up; they’re starting to study for the new test.
I’m filled with anger and sadness but also dim optimism after our call. It keeps getting worse out there—but there’s still determination and hope to go around. And people are capable of changing for the better even in their 90s.
I have exactly one fic on AO3 and don’t really expect to post another (most of what I write isn’t suitable since I don’t do fanfic and this was the only pure-smut story I’ve ever felt compelled to share), but I just got the nicest most complimentary note from a reader that made it all worth it. Literally made my whole weekend and gave me a boost of confidence as I’m struggling in my current novel project.
