Rewatched the Shrek movies recently and it got me thinking. I think Shrek the third isn’t quite as bad as everyone says it it- but I think it could have been so much better-

I think it would have been better if Shrek decided to force Prince Charming to come along on the journey to help get Arthur and train Arthur in the social etiquette of royalty Charming was trained in his entire life. The banter this allows would be very fun. Charming plots the coup from the original movie before they leave, and it’s planned to take place as soon as they come back with the heir to kill Shrek and Arthur at the same time. 2 birds with 1 stone.

BUT! While they’re on the journey there and back again Charming and Shrek bond (slowly) over both their shared snark and being raised in an environment were they were expected to be one thing and didn’t really get any encouragement to be anything else or forgiveness for fulfilling the role they were forced into. They also bond with Arthur, same as the first with the campfire scene, here Shrek gives Arthur the same talk while Charming is brooding while leaning against a tree at the edge of the light (because he’s dramatic).

They get back to the kingdom and the coup begins! Betrayal of the trust that’s been built up! But Charming doesn’t want that anymore and helps to put a stop to the coup, solidifying his redemption arc. You can even keep the scene where he’s looking for Shrek and asks Pinocchio where he is because everyone else still thinks he’s evil.

Maybe there’s a running theme of asking Charming what he really wants from life so that when we get to Arthur’s speech about being whatever you want and all the villains are saying what their dreams for their lives are Charming can have this final moment of opening up. Charming stays in the castle with Arthur as a royal advisor so that their story is wrapped up and doesn’t feel quite so much like the third movie doesn’t exist in the 4th movie.

I don’t know, I think it would be cool. Thoughts?

Missing Saezuru

We have another two months to wait for the new chapter and my minds worrying about things again. Just jotting down thoughts on what may happen next. Of course, these ramblings won’t bear any importance once we get the chapter.  

What Misumi, Hirata, Ryuuzaki, Nanahara and pretty much every men in Saezuru universe have in common is their sense of masculinity and/or machismo. The need to emphasize it through violence, control, intimidation, debasement, etc.

This is what makes Doumeki attractive and admirable since he does not exhibit those just to prove he is a “man”, he just simply is. The way he stands, walks and delivers himself exudes manliness effortlessly. Him just standing silently against the wall gives a sense of security and protection that one would like to feel from a real man. His wide shoulders are just.......okay back to the point. With the story taking a seat back on Yashiro and Doumeki’s relationship after the previous, I’d say, five intense chapters, the following chapters would again try to build it up, alongside the Yakuza feud plot. So what could be a possible turning point for Yashiro and Doumeki’s relationship?

Arrogance

Doumeki was never arrogant but with the threat to their lives thanks to Hirata, we might just find this in Doumeki. As Yashiro would try to keep Doumeki away, to keep him safe, Doumeki might just insist that he can protect Yashiro. He might kept denying that he can never be a weakness for Yashiro because he can never be weak and he can and he will save and protect Yashiro. All for the sake of keeping Yashiro by his side. That will just make Yashiro mad and he might think of the most painful ways just to push Doumeki away, now how strong will Doumeki be emotionally after all that or how long can he insist himself on to Yashiro? This could be painful to read until the Yakuza feud is resolved, specially that Yashiro effectively can get himself hurt by inflicting pain on Doumeki.

I have always felt very deeply and people say it's a bad thing but I just don't understand how it could be bad. I don't think I want to be any other way. For one thing, it's not natural for me so it just wouldn't work. Also, I believe that living a full life requires letting yourself dive into a multitude of experiences and feelings. Feeling things to the fullest extent is living to the fullest extent. Being alive IS feeling. You have to be willing to go through and feel a full spectrum of emotions. I often feel like running away these days, but if I did I know I would be so out of touch with myself and the experience of this stage of my life would pass me by. Feeling deeply is also why I write. I think feeling deeply is the necessary foundation for good art.

An Update

It’s been an incredibly difficult two months. My cousin was in a motorcycle accident and almost lost his life. He lost his leg. Family means everything to me. Soon You’ll Get Better became the only song I could listen to. Then I had to pretend it wasn’t happening just so I could keep going. Thankfully, he’s doing better.

Then I got my heart broken by this girl I had liked for a year and gradually fell in love with. She acted like she had feelings for me too. We secretly held hands and we would cuddle. We got really close and shared a lot of things. Then she suddenly disappeared and came back with a boyfriend two months later. I realized she was just playing me the whole time. She knew I had feelings for her and she led me on, dropped me, and came back with a boyfriend. I had already bought tickets to the show she was in a few weeks ago, and I decided to go anyway. She was the lead character. I made the decision to leave instead of staying to speak to her after. It was excruciating. I never imagined that we would say goodbye because she promised me that day would never come. But it did.

I’ve been heartbroken, and I know it’s been related to several different factors. What I felt for this girl was totally new and exhilarating. It was so real, and holding hands and cuddling with a girl was brand new for me. I loved it, but not because it was with a girl. I loved it because it was with her. She meant so much to me and I was willing to give everything for her. It’s been an awful time losing a really close friend who was there when I was going through a horrible time. I had to realize that she wasn’t actually a good friend. It hurts more than those two words express.

Even so, I’ve started to feel much better now. This has pushed me towards myself and learning what it feels like to love myself. So much of my time and identity was tied to her, so I’ve felt so lost without her. We shared everything. Songs, movies, musicals, plays, makeup, photography, actresses, tea, just so many things. I finally found something that is just mine. It isn’t related to her at all. It’s a part of me and something I’ve loved since I was a child. This has pushed me towards myself. Right now, I wish we’d never met, but I know someday I’ll be thankful for what losing her gave me.

2017 In Song

2017 has been a whirlwind. It’s been a combination of the last five years and has consisted of a tremendous amount of hard work and growth. I’ve reached miles in recovery from anorexia, I opened up about sexuality for the first time, and I began to heal from assault. I learned how to gracefully accept my mistakes and how to reach out for help. I got to see Waitress! I met Sara Bareilles TWICE, even if it was only for about 10 seconds each! I found the courage to say goodbye. I found the courage to start over.
