What happens if you don’t quilt as close together as your batting wants you to?
I realize this kind of sounds like the set up to a joke, but I’m genuinely asking. Why does batting have a max distance apart you can quilt it, and how strict a maximum is it?
#quilt question#is this one of those quilting rules that is actually necessary#or one of the ones that is customary but ignorable?#I’m trying to decide how I want to quilt the blue quilt#but it has two rectangles that are still like 18 by 21 inches#and the batting says it needs to be quilted every ten inches#hmmmmmm what to do#diagonal lines?#straight line quilting through the whole darn quilt not following the seams from the quilt top?#random squiggles?#are there like…customary quilting designs?
