Help me out here. The Hello Kitty Quilt is ready for the backing. It's a lot of pink so am wondering if a pink backing would be too much? Pale purple maybe? Or a light blue? FYI, it's a twin bed size.

Hey y’all! This is a quilt my mom made for my uncle like fifteen, twenty years ago. It has some rips I’m going to fix, and through them you can see batting, but I don’t recognize the batting? Do any of you know what kind of batting this is? It’s got that white mesh-ish fabric over fluff that looks like polyfil
What happens if you don’t quilt as close together as your batting wants you to?
I realize this kind of sounds like the set up to a joke, but I’m genuinely asking. Why does batting have a max distance apart you can quilt it, and how strict a maximum is it?
