If you were a member of a dictatorship, what would your preferred position in the government be?
Um, probably director of arts. No one is going to oust me, and I get to force everyone to listen to what I want to listen to, to see what I want to see. I get to choose, and it would be awesome.
Design a war cry for yourself.
Bagpipes in rocking f-sharp octaves, and then a dominant 7 chord in E. Also yelling. Um, my family's motto is "Si Je Puis," which means "If I Can" in French. That wasn't an answer but I tried!
What most puzzles you about people?
A lot. But mostly the emotional stock people put in each other. I know I do this too, I just don't understand it. Also the way some people don't feel the need to crawl away from everyone and hide for a few hours.
Silliest/most favorite internet video phenomenon, GO.
Um... I don't know? Do the little kitties with captions count?
What’s your favorite bizarre conspiracy theory/weird story?
Illuminati, perhaps? And I'm not sure if this counts as either a conspiracy story theory or a weird story but I was taught early on and still firmly believe somewhere deep down that you owe something to the land. That stuff is alive; it was here before you and will be there long after. You do not disturb the sleep of those who rest there. You respect it and fear it and love it. And for the love of all that is holy you do not touch barrows.
What was the fandom that got you online? What was the fandom that got you reading fic (if you read fic)? What was the first fandom that you were scared of?
Online? I don't know. Fic? Probably Supernatural, from the lovely Elise. And the first fandom I was scared of? Supernatural, because those people are weird.
What random topic could you talk to a stranger about forever?
Atonal music. It's one of the things I love most; it's something I could talk to anyone about forever, listen to forever, read about forever. I know perhaps one other person who is passionate about it the same way I am.
One book more people should have read.
"The Bone People," by Keri Hulme
What’s your favorite stripe of mythology?
Er, I'm very partial to Greek. Also Celtic mythology has a place in my heart for obvious reasons
Oh god coast all the way. It's funny - in Portland I would miss the sea. The places I have been the happiest are places with great cliffs and ocean, or just lonely horizons eastward or westwards. I love the salt and the waves and the vastness of the ocean, the wind and storms and everything. I love that the land has to be really really strong to hold out against it - moors and junipers bent double and scraggly pines and headlands and cliffs and rocks.
If you were a superhero, what would be your useless superpower? (e.g. etymology man! able to give the origin of any word at the drop of a hat!)
I'd like to do that, but for plants. To see one and know immediately its name, to know where it likes to grow and the pH of its soil. That kind of thing.
1) Least favourite food? Why?
2) Last film you saw in theaters?
3) If you could trade places with anyone, who would it be?
5) To which branch of the Noldor do you belong (this only needs be answered by those who know what I'm talking about - if not tell me something random about yourself)
6) Favourite Renaissance painter. Why?
7) Last concert you went to that you really really loved?
8) Fruit or chocolate dessert?
9) Trans-Siberian Railway or Orient Express?
10) Do you read the news? If so, where? If not, do you follow it at all and through what medium?
11) An obsession. Or passion. Whatever you want to call it.
