Perpendicular Lines
We've all heard that thing about how sad parallel lines are because they're have so much in common but never meet but that perpendicular lines are sad too because they meet once and then drift apart forever. Whenever I would see a post about that I'd always think "Yeah, I know. So sad." And then I wouldn't think much about it. But today I realized how sad it really is when this happens in life.
I walked passed my ex-boyfriend today in the mall. We made eye contact but neither of us smiled or waved. We just looked at each other and continued walking like the other was just another face in the crowd. Don't get me wrong, I'm far past getting over him and I don't miss him. I just think it's sad because he was someone that I never thought I could go a day without talking to. And one mistake made it clear that even after we broke up, I couldn't be friends with him. Yes, he was a total douche bag, but that doesn't mean I don't have good memories of him. It's like the Doctor said, "The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. Good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant." And that's the sad part. We have these memories together, but we no longer share them with each other.
