(sort of) Random Start: For Love Not Lisa - "Slip Slide Melting"
So I cheated a little bit because I wanted to start my day with a sort of quick starting song that I at least kind of knew. Anyway, a soundtrack that features the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, STP, Rage Against the Machine, Helmet, etc., and this track by a pretty unknown For Love Not Lisa is easily my favorite song on this record. Unfortunately, everything else on their own release was just a little too mellow or maybe even a little too Christian for me to get into. However, I still listen to this song pretty regularly as it's a pretty dynamic track.

Random Start: Childish Gambino - "You See Me"
I think Donald Glover is a pretty funny comedian and I watch Community pretty regularly and his comedic timing on that show rivals, if it isn't, the best. When I first heard about Childish Gambino I was expecting something like The Lonely Island. As the son of Jehovah's Witness foster parents, I know this guy's life couldn't have been easy growing up. However, after watching his performance at Coachella last year and actually listening to what he has to say, this dude has just as big a chip on his shoulder as any rapper his age without a successful comedy career. In fact, I would say some of the more popular rappers who, admittedly presumably, grew up worse than Donald have a way more positive acceptance. Anyway, while watching the performance, the big screen behind CG sometimes had his lyrics. My friend and I were dying at the line "If I'm a faggot, spell it right, I got way more than 2 G's." For that reason alone, this is the only song from Donald that remains in my library.
Random Start: Adamantium - "Goodbye"
Some of that late 90's SoCal metalcore. I think they even shared a member or 2 with Eighteen Visions. I know I heard of Adamantium by listening to a short clip on Amazon while searching for bands that sound like... but I forget which band they were giving me suggestions for. Anyway, at one time this was my favorite song off of this record.

Random Start: Lana Avacada - "The Warehouse"
I feel like I'm landing on way too many techy screamo bands to start these days off. Oh well. This one, I'm pretty sure, I found out through another tumblr, but I forget which.

Random Start: Ume - "Destroyer"
Kind of like a spacier, yet poppier, Denali? I heard about Ume when I was looking into going to the Toadies and Helmet show that came through. I ended up not going, but had I decided to, I definitely would have shown up early to catch Ume.
Random Start: Shortie - "ADD"
In the days of Napster and mp3.com there was a pretty big representation of Sacramento bands, especially acts that emulated aspects of Deftones. Shortie was probably one of the more "successful" bands of this era releasing 2 independent albums and maybe an EP (?) before signing to Earache. This song was on the first of the 2 independent albums and a more raw version of their style that they were honing in on. The next record, Watching You Drown, was, in my opinion, their best effort before they fell off trying to go in a more pop rock oriented direction that fell kind of flat. Based on the slopes of their output (and their looks) I draw a lot of comparisons to Eighteen Visions.

Random Start: Kidcrash - "Life was real, vital, urgent, important/Bum Guts" Old school screamo gets a modern update. You can get just about everything Kidcrash has released here http://denovali.com/kidcrash/ (except the latest EP). Random Start was ripped off from Hermitology.
