Requested by @amanstiles: If it’s okay with you I was thinking about something pretty romantic where he shows his soft side, that no one has ever seen. I was thinking about a human reader and a happy ending, like the real one never happened 🥺👉🏼👈🏼
Pairing: Lee Rang x fem!Reader
Description: You are a normal human girl, working in your own café slash ice-cream shop and you meet Lee Rang.
Word Count: 3606 words
A/N: first of all, sorry it took so long. I go to school on half time and they give us way too much homework that takes hours to make each, so I didn’t have much free time to write. And I got a bit carried away, honestly. This was supposed to be like 1k words but it turned out to be 3k... Secondly, I’m not too proud of this one since I think it didn’t really fit the request in a way. The 2 don’t really get together , more like just going on a date. I’d love to write a second part of this if you want :) . Also this is more of an AU then what happens in the series, cause I had a bit more freedom then. Hope you don’t mind and if you don’t like it, I’ll write a different one :)
Warnings: reader is female, swearing, this is a slow burn, basically more an AU than the actual storyline in the series where they basically don’t hate each other and the snake dude isn’t there at all, Lee Rang is a shy baby and reader is a bold person, also added an meet ex plot because why not :)
The clock striked 8, your apron was tied around your waist and your hands were busy with ordering the ice-creams in a certain way to look “aesthetic”. The sun had risen high enough, reflecting through the glass gems that hung in the front of the shop, creating the beautiful rainbow effect on the walls that you liked so much. The bell rang softly and you looked up to see a small family enter, the two kids both looking at the waffles and ice-cream with gleaming eyes. You smiled brightly at them before looking at the parents.
“How can I help you?” You asked and the father ordered two waffles with chocolate strawberry and whipped cream, two coffees and 2 apple juices. You nodded before looking at Ella, who started on the coffees. The woman paid and you smiled before getting the apple juice while the waffles were heating up. You then went to the waffles, taking them out and putting it on a plate before taking the whipping cream, shaking the bottle before turning it upside down and pressing down the lever. You put the whipping cream on both the waffles before putting it back in the fridge and getting the strawberries and chocolate, putting the strawberries on before putting a bit of chocolate on top of everything. Taking some cutlery, you took that and the plates to the table and smiling as the kids eyes widened in pure joy and excitement. Then you went and got the drinks and put them on a tray before bringing them over along with two small tokens. You put the drinks down before holding the tokens out to the kids.
“Why don’t you get a toy from the claw machine later.” You said, ruffling the kids’ hair before nodding at the parents and walking off again, smiling as the kids yelled a loud thank you after you. The next group entered after, 4 teenage girls and 2 boys, and they were chattering loudly about homework or something. You took their order quickly before starting on it.
The rest of the day went on just like that, costumers entering and leaving and just like that your day ended as you waved the last costumer away. Letting out a loud sigh, you dropped to the ground with your back against the counter. You had been standing for at least 11 hours now, not having a normal lunch break since one of your co-workers was sick and the other had an early leave requested since last week. You had been the only person working for the last 4 hours and you still had one hour to go. Just as that thought entered your head, the doorbell rang again and you quickly stood up and looked ahead to see two men entering the shop and smiled at them. The shorter one sat at a table while the taller one looked at the menu.
“Vanilla and lemon ice cream, please.” He spoke and you nodded, taking 2 bowls before putting 2 scoops of the different flavors in separate bowls before handing it to him.
“4 500 Won.” You said and he handed you the exact amount before taking the bowls and going to the second male. You eyes landed on the second male for a second before diverting from him when he suddenly looked up. You walked into the freezing room, shivering at the sudden coldness of the room before checking the products before exciting and entering the front of the shop again. You looked at the ice-cream before covering them with their respective lids before closing the “freezer” door. You then crouched down, opening the cabinet and checking the stuff inside of it and the clean cutlery you had left. Seeing how little there was, you started to fill in the dishwasher with the dirty dishes. Hearing the shuffling of chairs, you looked up to see the men leaving.
“Good evening.” You said and the tall one nodded at you while the other just walked out. After they had left, you just couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched but you chose to ignore it nonetheless as you locked the café.
For the next days, you always saw the shorter man more and more (even seeing him 2 one a particular day). It was a bit weird, seeing him so much, but you just assumed that your shop was closer or better than others in his head.
Now Lee Rang thought different about this. He didn’t like the coffee that he always ordered (it being to bitter for his taste), but eating ice-cream everyday like he would want would look weird so he decided to switch between the two. He didn’t know why he went to your shop, knowing that it was technically so far from his actual house (even though he could just teleport). He didn’t know why his body pulled him towards you. Books and movies always talked about love at first sight and now Rang was actually think such things to be true. It felt like a need in life, to see you and he hated every second of it. You were a mortal person, yet he could not stop his feet from carrying him there everyday. It was a necessity for him to not feel anxious for the rest of the day.
“Mocha, right?” You questioned as you looked at the familiar face of the black haired male with a smile and you could swear that his cheeks turned reddish. He just nodded and you turned to start on the coffee. Once you finished, you handed it to him with a smile.
“How much?” “On the house.” You said before greeting the next costumer so he couldn’t complain. Instead he just stared at you for a few seconds before walking off and sitting at a table in the corner. And he continued to sit there for quite awhile, watching you, but shying away everytime you so much glanced in his direction.
When your lunch rolled by, you took a drink of your own and your food before walking towards him and sitting opposite of him.
“So, what’s your name?” You asked and he looked up at you, his cheeks still a faint red. “Lee Rang.” He spoke, trying to sound confident but failing. Normally he’d be confident, hell he had never shied away, let alone from a woman. But because of the way he was pulled towards you, he couldn’t help it. His heart beat 5 times faster than it should. You nodded before leaning back as you started eating.
“So, any reason you keep coming here everyday?” You asked and he fiddled with his drink and you chuckled at his shyness. “I just like this coffee...” He mumbled and you nodded. “And that’s why you grimace everytime you drink from it, or the fact that you added over 7 sugar cubes?” You called him out and he blushed at the statement, averting his eyes from you.
“I also noticed that you tend to stare at me.” You looked at him again through your eyelashes at him before looking back at your food again, smiling slightly before looking back up at him. His eyes widen slightly before he coughed awkwardly.
“I, um... Sorry.” He mumbled silently and you smiled, leaning forward and petting his head softly. “Don’t worry about it. Maybe you should hang out with me outside of this café.” You smiled before getting up.
“I get off at 7pm, if you’re interested.” You said before walking off to start working again. Surprisingly, he did leave at first but when the clock striked 7 he was standing outside while looking at his phone. Instead of the hoodie and jeans that he normally wore, he wore a black suit with a dark red shirt underneath. He looked good to say the least and you were blushing this time.
“Lee Rang?” You called and he looked up, smiling shyly at you before putting his phone in his pocket before sticking his hands in his pockets as well.
“Uh... What do you want to do?” He asked, somewhat sounding a bit more confident than before. Smiling, you locked the door before looking around.
“How bout a walk in the park?” You asked and he nodded. You started to walk there and after a few minutes of silent, you spoke up.
“So, you like me or am I just that stunning?” You asked in a teasing voice and he looked at you before nodding.
“Both.” He said and you looked at him in surprise, not expecting him to say that before chuckling. “Why thank you.” You said before looking forward.
“You look stunning as well. Black and red suit you very well.” You complimented and he thanked you with a soft voice. “Are you always like this? Quiet and shy, I mean.” You asked as you looked at him and he shook his head, scratching his neck awkwardly. You smiled as you entered the park, quickly sitting down on a bench.
“Don’t be so nervous. I won’t laugh at you or anything.” You tease and he looked at you before sighing. “Sorry... I really am never like this.” He spoke and you giggled at the statement before leaning back and spreading your arms on the back of the bench.
“Let’s rewind then. Hey, I’m (y/f/n). You?” You looked at him and he looked at you before laughing and sitting up, sighing before turning to you fully.
“Lee Rang, nice to meet you.” He said, holding out his hand. You took his hand before he suddenly turned your hands so that yours faced upwards before kissing your hand.
“That’s so cheesy.” You said before laughing as you pulled your hand out of his. He laughed as well before you both looked up towards the sky, which was filled with bright stars and a full moon. The rest of the night was filled with a comfortable silence. When you left the park, he had offered to drive you home and you were surprised at the car that he had.
“Jeez, nice car.” You spoke as you looked back at him. He smiled sheepishly at you before opening your door for you. You thanked him before getting in the car and pulling the car door closed behind you before sneakily opening the car door on his side. When he arrived, you just gave him a smile before leaning back in your seat again. He stepped inside the car, closing the door before starting the car.
“Can I ask what you do for job? Because you don’t seem to have a normal working schedule, nod offense.” You said as you looked at him and he looked at you before shrugging. He drove forward and you frowned, looking at the rode.
“I do favors...” He spoke and you looked at him, a little shocked at the statement. “Like... A hitman..?” You asked and he laughed, shaking his head.
“No, no... I don’t kill.” He said and you chuckled. “What, like blackmail then?” You asked and he pondered for a second before nodding. You looked forward as he drove on the main road.
“Should I watch out or..?” You joked and he looked at you, smirking teasingly. “Do I need to know anything important then?” He teased and you chuckled before leaning back again.
“Well... I have 7 dogs.” You said and he looked at you, a smile on his face. “Are you for real?” He eyes and you shook your head before holding up 2 fingers.
“Just 2, actually... Sorry.” You laughed, but he didn’t seem fazed by it and instead smiled brightly like before. “You like dogs?” “Very!” He answered and you smiled.
“Well, you can come in to see them if you’d like.”
And with that evening, you started to hang out with him more and more, being close friends instead of acquaintances. But then he suddenly didn’t show up for about a week, nor did he answer any of your calls or texts when you did send something (although it wasn’t not be that often). Then after another three days (added to the one week), he suddenly showed up again.
With a 6 year old kid clutching his hand, who was looking at the ice cream intently...
You were staring at them for a full minute as they reached the counter before looking up to Lee Rang.
“You have a kid?!” You whispered-yelled and his eyes widen before it seemed to click. He shook his head before looking at the kid.
“This is Soo-oh. I’m taking care of him...” He exclaimed and the kid gave a bright smile before suddenly pulling at Lee Rang’s arm and pointing at the ice-cream.
“Buy me chocolate and vanilla.” He said and you looked at Lee Rang with a raised eyebrow at him, smiling.
“So, vanilla and chocolate ice-cream, raspberry ice-cream and a vanilla smoothie.” You said before tapping on the register.
“3000.” “That’s too little.” He spoke as he pulled out his wallet and you rolled your eyes at him before looking at the kid. “First times are always treated by me.” You said to him before preparing the milkshake and ice-creams. When finished, you handed both ice-creams to the kid by leaning over the counter. Soo-oh took it happily before taking a table by the window.
“He’s adorable.” You said before handing him his milkshake before crossing your arms and leaning on the glass counter.
“So, where were you for the last week?” You then asked with a sigh and he looked at Soo-oh. “Sorry... I had to take care of him and other stuff.” He explained and you cocked your head to the side in confusion.
“I...I adopted him (Yes, I’m making this canon in my story 😝). It took awhile since I had to go to court and I didn’t have time to call or answer your texts.” He said and you nodded before looking away. “Enjoy your milkshake. Have fun with your son.” You winked at him before turning to the next costumer, smiling brightly at them. After an hour, you suddenly noticed a couple entering, both of them waving at Rang. The girl ran there, smiling brightly while the man looked at the menu.
“2 coffees, please.” He spoke and you nodded before saying the prize as you put 2 coffee cups under the coffee machine before typing in the price as he held up his credit card. When the transaction came through you went beck to the coffee machines and took the coffees.
“Here you go.” You smiled and he smiled back before moving to the table with the drinks in his hand. Your eyes went to the table, connecting with Rang’s before you looked away as he gave a smirk followed by a sly wink. Who was he and what had he done to the cute Lee Rang you knew?
20 minutes later, the couple and Soo-oh left as Lee Rang looked at you before sipping on his milkshake. Rolling your eyes, you signaled your co-worker before making your way to his table and sitting across.
“What’s with you today?” You joked as you leaned back in your seat and he smiled.
“Nothing much...” “Well, no offense, but you act quite different.” You said and he shrugged, looking away before looking back at you. “I just don’t feel like I I have too...” He commented and you smiled before getting up and walking to his side.
“I’ll see you later.” You said before quickly walking back to the counter. Looking back at him, you smiled at Lee Rang’s blushing figure. You smirked to yourself, proud of making the man blush.
Then, at the end of your shift, you went to the park once again with Lee Rang.
“So, how about going to watch a movie?” He suddenly asked, halfway there and you looked at your outfit. “I’m wearing stained clothes and I think this is snot.” You said as you looked at your sleeve. He showed a face of disgust and you laughed before turning.
“We’ll go by my place, I’ll shower and change quickly and then we can go. Okay?” You asked and he nodded before you both went to your place. You got greeted by 2 over-excited dogs as your pet-sitter, the 13 year-old girl from next door, left with a bright goodbye after getting her payment. You quickly left to go take a shower when you noticed that your dogs were basically more excited to see Rang than you. You took some clothes from your closet before entering the bathroom and undressing yourself, throwing your dirty clothes in the laundry basket before turning on the shower and letting the hot water calm your body down from it’s aching pain. After 10 minutes, you stepped out and quickly dried your body and hair before changing. Somehow, you had chosen an outfit that matched with Lee Rang’s. He wore a white dress shirt with a black jacket and black pats, like he usually did, and somehow you completely matched with him. A white shirt, a black skirt and a fancy leather jacket on top that had some golden details engraved into the leather. You smiled as you saw yourself in the outfit, confidence washing over you. In all honesty, you barely thought of yourself as absolutely beautiful, but it was those rare moments where your confidence spiked that made you feel beautiful. A person is nothing without confidence. You decided for some simple and natural make-up, but opted on a cat-eye later on to make your eyes stand out just a bit more. Then you went back to your room and took some jewelry, a spiked collar and some dangling earrings before going to the living room. You smiled as you saw Lee Rang crouched down, Boot, one of your dogs, on his back with his tongue hanging out of his mouth as Lee Rang scratched his belly. Dots on the other hand was laying on the couch, a judgmental look on her face as she watched the 2.
“Alrighty! Dots, Boot. C’mon!” You spoke and both looked at you before excitingly running to you and then circling you happily with there tails wagging. You lead them to their own room, locking the door behind them before handing them some treats through the cage door.
“Go outside if you need to go please, I don’t want to clean up when I come home.” You called and Dots gave a loud bark in response before going back to her treat. You smiled before leaving that room and going back to where Rang was.
“Let’s go.” You said as you pulled on your shoes, some 3,5 inch heels (about 8cm) before grabbing your purse with your keys, phone, wallet and some other “lady” stuff. You locked the door after exiting the house and looked at Rang with a smile before you took his hand. He looked at you, blushing again but intertwining your fingers anyway. He gave a smile and you smiled back as you both walked to the movie theater, swinging your hand back on forth slightly as you walked. When you reached the theater, you looked at the movies before pointing at the fantasy thriller that you wanted to watch.
“Let’s watch that!” You said and he looked at it before nodding and walking to the cash register alone. You looked around again before spotting your ex with another girl. Sighing loudly when he spotted you, you searched for Rang quickly so that he hopefully would leave you alone. Yeah, no such luck.
“(Y/n)!” He called and you turned to him, a fake smile on your face as you saw both him and his new plaything. He smiled back at you and stopped when he reached you.
“You here to watch a movie?” “Yeah...” You answered, pointing at the movie you were going to watch. Just when you that you thought it wouldn’t be too bad, it started.
“It’s kinda sad that you go to the movies alone.” He said and the girl cackled, her high pitched voice immediately annoying your already and you rolled your eyes slightly before sighing.
“I’m not alone.” You said and he looked around. “Well, I don’t see anyone. You’re not seeing things, right?” He spoke and you looked away, biting your tongue and clenching your hands behind your back to not punch him.
“He’s buying tickets.” You said and he looked at the cash register. “I see no guy.” He then answered and you looked at the cash register before noticing him at the food court.
“He probably ran.” Th girl suddenly said and you looked at her before scoffing.
“Yeah, sure. How is to be a side chick by the way?” You replied and she frowned before looking at her boyfriend, who didn’t even look at her.
“Defend me.” “He can’t, cause it’s true. Once a cheater, always a cheater.” You replied and he scoffed and you rolled your eyes at the pair again.
“I’m going to go.” You said, pointing your thumb back before walking to the food court, only to be pulled back by your ex again and almost losing your balance when he did. But in a flash, his hand on your arm was gone and you watched Lee Rang in front of with his hand clasped on your ex’s collar.
“Don’t touch my girlfriend, asshole.” He growled and you looked at your ex’s terrified face with a hidden smile before putting your hand on Rang’s shoulder.
“It’s alright, sweetie. We’re finished talking, let’s go.” You said, pulling him back slightly before dragging him to the food court again.
“Thank you.” You whispered to him and he smiled before looking back at your ex with a sneer, mumbling under his breath.
“That’ll teach him to try and take something off mine.” He said, one of his eyes flashing to his gumiho eye.
