Occupying an area of 156 acres, the Sri Rangam temple is the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world (the largest being Angkor Wat in Cambodia), it is the main one of the 108 Divyas Desams, or Divine Abodes of Vishnu as sung by the Alvars, saints Vaishnavas, is dedicated to Sri Ranganathaswamy (Vishnu) and Sri Ranganayaki (Lakshmi), but there are several other deities installed in the temple.
