In which Serena always calls Ranpo as "Ranpo-san" in the manner of respecting his age and status in the workplace by using honorific...it was the clear line she had between colleague vs something more than that, until she forgot to do so
Serena still half awake, just woke up after being sedated by Yosano after an injury during a mission. While Ranpo sat nearby her bed waiting for her to wake up.
"..Ranpo?" That surprised him, she never called him without his honorific before.
Only when she realizes what she has said does she panics. "Wait I'm so sorry I forgot! Um, I'm sorry I know you're older than me and we're not particularly close— I will stop ca—"
"No, wait. Keep calling me that. I don't mind..." He rested his chin on his palm and looks the other way.
"Huh..?" Serena's mouth agape.
"I said I don't mind. Just call me by Ranpo" He looks at her, bored.
"But everyone else calls you with honorific, if I do that they'll think we're close or something..!" Serena argued.
"Aren't we?"
The silence in the clinic was louder than expected.

if Serena never fell in love she would've accepted an offer from shrine priest to be a shrine maiden and devote to the temple, but she has a crush on Ranpo hence not accepting the offer. It doesn't matter that he likes her back or not, but it is a fact that loving him saved her from a cruel fate being a shrine maiden awaits for her.

Serena meets Ranpo during her entrance exam at the Armed Detective Agency when facing a bomb threat at a local mall, while jumping from the second floor she spots Ranpo who she mistaken as a civilian and evacuated him into a safe place. After passing the exam she gets re-introduced to Ranpo by Fukuzawa as her senior in the Armed Detective Agency. Due to Ranpo's enigma personality, Serena was put off and their relationship starts with a bad impression from Serena's side.
Serena is occasionally seen showing displease when accompanying Ranpo to any cases as she has a dislike towards his arrogant personality. However she warms up to him after they take multiple cases together and she acknowledges his tolerable personality beneath the confidence.
Ranpo has a neutral impression of Serena, describing her as a young woman with strange taste in fashion (regarding her bunny hood). While he gets annoyed by her selective treatment towards him, he never seems to hold grudge and calls her out for it instead. "You can't deny it, I'm the best detective here" he said after proving himself worthy of respect as her colleague.
Despite being at conflict with each other, Ranpo and Serena are proven compatible. During cases, Serena is described to be "a good caretaker" by Kunikida when asked by Atsushi who they should send Ranpo with.
Being accustomed to Ranpo, Serena grew a habit to bring snacks everywhere she went.
Despite Serena's role being the hacker of Armed Detective Agency, some people mistaken her as Ranpo's assistant which enrage her as she didn't want to be his assistant.
Serena refers Ranpo with the honorific "-san" while Ranpo calls her without any honorific simply because she said so in her introduction at the Armed Detective Agency telling people to call her without honorific. So when asked by Atsushi why Ranpo calls almost everyone with honorific except for Serena the answer was simple, "because she said so".
