Two words: Yandere Brainstorm
Honestly, Brainstorm isn’t all that far off from being a canon yandere.
Brainstorm is friendly enough to you and you enjoy each other’s company, but it takes a while before he starts having feelings for you. He’s still trying to get over his feelings for someone he lost a long time ago.
Over time, the more he’s around you, the fonder of you he becomes. You’re funny, charming, and very clever. You might not understand all the science and technical stuff about his inventions, but when Brainstorm mentions building a gun that shoots smaller guns, instead of calling him crazy, you ask him if the smaller guns shoot bullets or another set of even smaller guns. As the two of you discuss the possibility of infinite guns—or guns on a microscopic level, at the very least—Brainstorm realizes he’s in love.
This is where the madness begins.
Brainstorm gets clingy, which isn’t an inherently bad thing, but it’s as if he can’t go five minutes without being around you. If he’s not following you through the ship hallways or knocking on your hab suite door, he’s constantly messaging you.
He just wants to make sure you’re safe. Brainstorm has lost someone he cares about before and he won’t let it happen again. He wouldn’t be able to live with himself if anything ever happened to you.
You confront him about how uncomfortable it makes you when he’s constantly following you. You like him, but you need your space. Brainstorm takes it well, says he understands and will try to lay off of all the random check-ins and messages. It’s fine, he’s not offended. Besides, that’s what hidden cameras are for.
It’s for your own safety. He just wants to protect you. And what you don’t know can’t hurt you.
