#rant a bit

atwow kinda rant below !

my only real issue with atwow is that i feel like it’s so obvious nete was only made to b killed off, and james didn’t even bother fully fleshing him out as a character? or like.. hmm idk how to word this but we barely get to know him, he barely has any scenes,, and i honestly feel like his death was pointless and only used for plot and character development for the other characters and make even MORE parallels between jake and loak (which trust me, we didn’t need more. it’s basically the whole second movie + he’s the narrator for the 3rd one) for example, neteyam being the “better” brother, just like tom was. like i feel as if we knew trudy and tsutey better than neteyam,, they had more characterization than the literal son of jake sully :/. we barley see him interact with his parents or siblings, we barley see him at all. okie rant over i just rlly wanted to get that off my chest bc it’s genuinely the one thing i hate from the movie 😭

You know when in The Legend of Korra, Korra gets severed from her Avatar state and would have to find a way to connect again?

I feel something similar with the blans cutting the connection to our Ancestry and heritage with slavery, imperialism/colonialism religious brainwashing/crusades, AND military occupation.

Colonialism separating us and leading to the loss of many things from names to families to traditions to tribes (yet we preserve as much as we could through new traditions, language, & religion).

Especially when my dad told me that Vodou was more accepted alongside Catholicism up until the 60s, when missionaries & the like went into houses and even TOOK Vodou artifacts and offerings, citing them as evil and the people need to look "fully" to the church. So many adults turned to keeping everything secret, even from the young ones in order to "protect" them. A lot of family members died holding that knowledge, because it became taboo. For me, I'm lucky for even the little bits I get to learn.

US occupation and the assassination of presidents to make way for more that would better fit their agenda, making the country further unstable after France's salty ass making us pay for having freedom after we rightfully fought for it. My parents leaving during the dictatorship. Continued unrest and dirty hands in politics up until today.

So many things erased.

So now I gotta go back and pick up what's been lost. I won't find all the pieces, but I can always try to make a fuller picture, and I can leave more for those after me with what I learn now. Maybe it's part of the ancestral work I have to do. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel extremely robbed. And that's not even the true extent of the emotion.

I've been really disappointed in shopping / buying / consumer experiences lately. in bullet points:

- everything in a gendered clothing section was too early with this cold weather snap. I remeber when stores where able to pick their seasonal inventory and when it can be dropped off. now they rush out seasonal clearance as fast as possible completely ignoring the needs of the community they sell too

- why have they taken out half of their self checkout lines, but shut down most of them and still having 1 human on a register for lines full of people. now I have to wait in line to do the register process myself or wait in line to work with an overtaxed employee

- you can't honestly enjoy anything without hundreds of dollars. small pack of groceries - twice as much, leisure items like books, games, crafts - 3x as much, vacation or solo day opportunities like amusement parks, day fairs, or even simple sight seeing costs nearly 1k! for a single day of activities for a family of 4 or 5 have to assume a single family day outing could run them hundreds and put them in the red for weeks.

- quantity size....WTF. WHERE THE HELL IS MY STUFF. I paid for it, clearly I want it, why are they charging twice as much for half the product???!!!

I wonder what am I supposed to do about this?! How could even it be possible this is happening and people aren't rioting the streets? oh that's right if I take a day off, I could end up destitute. the system of things has got to change.

not even the fault of the new tumblr search function, they are actually tagging this and putting it on the tags on purpose. why? i do respect their headcanon but i dont see why they need to feel angry at other people over it, get over yourself and dont go into the tag. its easy, i promise. just move along.
