Today i stumbled upon a korean rap survival show (SMTM 11) and i binged 6 episodes straight; each episode is almost two hours long so you can def imagine how numb my butt got by the end of it.
However others may think, i definitely had an eventful day. Seeing each contestant’s passion, creativity, and their determination to win and to share their story with the world has touched me deeply. I find so much magic in the written word; creating a story that you wish to share, no matter how silly the topic, is such a wondrous thing. It is purely art! It inspired me and reminded me of how much i love reading and hearing different stories. This love, borne from growing up on lullabies and fairytales read by my mother, has shaped who I am as a person and how I view the world.
I, too, wish to share my stories with the world, not for a need to be noticed but more for the selfish reason of leaving my mark on this world. To say that, i, who have been touched by the stories that i’ve heard/read, have also touched others with my own stories.
The challenge is real though. There are so many modalities i want to experiment with and use to express my stories: poetry, songs/raps, film/vlogs, novels, podcasts, etc…
Rather than get overwhelmed at the vast opportunities that wait in front of me, i am grateful to recognise that i am so blessed that i can do it all and i just have to start with one, and the rest will follow!
