Namjoon Day. ISSA LONG POST

It marks the birthday of a King. I hold Kim Namjoon in high regards because in all honesty, he is an inspiration to me musically, poetically, AND ethically. His work ethic (as well as all Korean idols I know of) just happens to be so hard working. Hours and hours of practice and improvement in a field that is not even guaranteed. Training for years and you may not even get to debut under the company you’re training for. It’s fucking crazy.
What’s even crazier is the fact that Namjoon as well as other idols have had to deal with so much behind-the-scenes shit that we don’t get to see. I touched on it a bit in my last post commemorating Jungkook and his birthday. We know that as a person, Namjoon has revolutionized himself in regards to the way he views himself and the way that he views the world, which happens to everyone as the gain more experiences and face new challenges within their lives.
Namjoon not only struggled as an underground rapper transitioning into mainstream Korean music, but he struggled internally. And at the point of me getting into BTS, I was struggling with myself internally as well, so in that respect, I grew closer to him as an artist and I grew a deeper respect for his craft.
Let’s talk about the fact that I really really really really love his rapping. Rap for me has always been a part of my life. It’s always been a part of me. I’m a pretty poetic person. The way that he blends his lyrics to be interpreted other ways than the literal meaning is, to me, an ART! If you can envoke an emotion into someone just using metaphors to mirror your internal feelings and emotions, it’s ART! AND I F U C K I N G L O V E IT! I cannot even begin to explain how fucking sexy that is to me. BRAINS ARE FUCKING SEXY GUYS
I fucking love a man who is smart enough to make moves to live comfortably in his own success, and I see that very much in Rap Monster. And his name fucking fits. Rap. Monster. His lyrical depth, flow, aggression, the way he attacks the beat, how he slurs his words, allll of it. ESPECIALLY WHEN HE FUCKING CHOPS! I FUIODNVOJSDN I just can’t get enough. Prime example would be his verse on Cypher Part 2. He rapped with a lot of aggression to prove his point, not to mention how his punchlines are usually very multi-meaning. The fact that he himself has learned how to fluently speak a language that uses different characters and sounds as well as grammatically structure only to then use the colloquial aspects of said language to infuse it into his native tongue for the sole purpose of making punchlines makes me tremble. HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU MAKE FUCKING ENTENDRES IN KOREAN AND ENGLISH AND AT THE SAME TIMEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Suga be doing that shit too, but this is a Rap Mon post. We gon’ save that shit for March 9th.
But anyway, I say all of that to say that I appreciate Rap Monster. I appreciate the efforts he’s put forth to make BTS on of the most influential music groups there are. I appreciate the fact that he and his members are managing to stay humble and grateful for all the successes that they’ve been given for their hard work. I am VERY proud to be an ARMY. Thank you, Kim Namjoon for being born. <3
