the darkness lay once again across the land, beckoning creatures of every kind to rest. dark green scales rest peacefully against the end of the paddock, eyelids finally lowering to put the day & mind to rest. the long tail swished against the dirt floor, only pausing when it reached the obscure snout. it was time for silence, time for sleep. time for the velociraptor to regain what little energy she had left in her body.
humans always wonder if dinosaurs can dream. alpha has questioned in several times. of course, none of the creatures can truly answer his question. a shake of the head, a nod perhaps? except, they didn’t understand the question either. if they did, the second eldest of the four would nod—inform him that they did. she’s dreaming now. of freedom, of family, of the hunt & food. in the morning she’ll play with at least a few of those.
the sudden tug at her tail grabs her by surprise, eyes immediately opening to glare at the being who had dared to touch her while she lay peacefully. a hiss escapes between sharpened teeth. she doesn’t immediately notice who it is. the figures are hidden within the shadows that take hold of the land. the sound comes to a stop once she recognizes them.
the younger siblings stand before her, one attempting to move the stable tail. the other simply watching. she can hear whines & with the roll of her bright eyes, she moves the heavy tail away. teeth are bared—though scarcely—just enough for them to understand that they are not in command. the raptor watches as her siblings move against her underbelly, curling up against the rough exterior.
it takes a moment, but they all manage to get comfortable. the low rumble coming from DELTA’S throat ceases. watchful eyes peer down at the pair, waiting for them to close their own pupils. it doesn’t take long. they relax. the forest green appendage begins to way again, pulling up to curl around the three of them.
