Rock am Ring 2016 review
Yesterday night I came back from Rock am Ring festival and it was one of the most disappointing weekends in my life.
On Friday the organiser reacted far to late to an approaching storm which caused 71 people to be injured. It’s not a nice feeling to stand in the middle of a storm, with people running through the rain while it’s impossible to see something else than lightning stroke into the stage next to me.
On Saturday they didn’t start the concerts til 21:30 because of our safety… but nearly nothing happened that day. There were only three more lightnings and they didn’t hit anything. And those happened around 18 o'clock. The concerts should have started around 14 o'clock… but instead of interrupting the concerts around 17:30 they didn’t start at all. It was also impossible to hear the safety announcements on the camping ground. Those were far to quiet and far to seldom.
Around 2am on Sunday they declared that they cancle the rest of the festival. At that time the weather forcast looked better than the one for the last few days.
On Sunday morning we were finally told to evacuate the camping ground til 12pm. I then tried to find a way to get home on Sunday… I had booked a train ticket for Monday and a ticket for Sunday would have costed around 100€. But nobody at the information could help me. They neigher gave me something I could give the train company nor did they try to call them. Because by far I wasn’t the only one who had this problem. I was lucky that I found someone on the parking ground who could drive me to a city near where I live. But not thanks to the organiser.
This was the place where the next problem occured. We had to evacuate everything til 12pm… We were at the car at 12pm and we could finally leave at 4pm. There was a 4 hour traffic jam on a field. We sun was burning down on us, we had 30°C and people were breaking down all around us. There wasn’t any shadow and we had nothing to drink. Because we were calling the help hotline we heard about water stations at the entrance to the parking grounds. Which were more than 30 minutes away. All the time we had no information and nobody told us anything.
I already were at four other festivals and they were never this badly organised. I’m not sure if I ever want to go to Rock am Ring again.
guys I’m still so pumped, I got back from rock am ring yesterday and it was so fucking awesome I mean they had to cancel it a day earlier because of weather warnings but I saw Larkin Poe, Walking on Cars, Disturbed, Tenacious D, Deftones, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Billy Talent and OMFG IT WAS SO GOOD BC YOU KNOW BILLY TALENT IS MY FAVOURITE BAND AND I’VE SEEN THEM ONCE ALREADY BUT I WAS AT THE FRONT THIS TIME AND IT WAS EVEN BETTER AND AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
