🐂 ‘Boeufs Sauvages’ - Wild Oxen, from 1706, was taken from “Illustrations de Voyages du Baron De la Hontan dans l'Amérique septentrionale, qui contient une relation des différents peuples qui y habitent, la nature de leur gouvernement, leur commerce, leurs coutumes, leur religion et leur manière de faire la guerre...” by Baron de La Hontan and Nicholas Gueudeville, which related de la Hontan’s voyages around North America. It was published by C. Delo out of La Haye in France in 1706. This little print only measures 5 1/4 x 6 1/8 inches. Yet, it shows so much! From the wild oxen, to the taking of the 🐂 by the horns, to the attack of the ox with a spear, to the native jumping on the ox, to the natives cooking the oxen, to a baby ox being eating by a crocodile in the river. A very demonstrative little piece! 🐂♥️🐂 To see this and many more, please come and see our website. #ox #oxen #boeuf #sauvage #wildoxen #native #nativeamerican #hunting #trapping #spearing #crocodile #antiqueprints #rareprints #1700s #rarebooks #livresanciens #livresrares #lachasse #oldprints #collectors #copperengraving #historicalart #nativeamericanhistory #delahontan #historylover #officeart #walldecor #informative #exploration #ameriqueseptentrionale
