Another living room perspective with a rare sighting of a silly barking dust bunny in the distance. I recently re-learned how to play backgammon and taught Mike so now we keep a set around (see the near leather ottoman). Sofa and chairs came direct from Paris, TN and I can’t even count how many Christmas presents I have opened on this these. I can also tell you that if you need a makeshift habit to really sell a rousing rendition of “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria” the green velvet arm covers will do in a pinch. I won the mid-century side table in a Housing Works auction and Mike Sr. gave us the round mirror after he decided it didn’t fit anywhere at his house. The column lamp was a barn pull, and the indigo dyed mud cloth blanket was a birthday present from Mike (Jr.). :-)

How about that wallpaper that was under the wood paneling. It really isn’t in terrible condition.

Everything looks a little brighter in the light of day.

Puppy painting party. He sat down in a drip, but I combed it out when we got back home. He usually hides in another room when we’re using power tools or hammering, but painting is nice and quiet and he brought his bed in the room so we could all be together.

We are still making messes in this bonus room. We finally got the framing up for the peg board wall. The irregular spacing is due to the fact that we had to anchor into the studs in the existing wall behind, and this is how they were laid out for some reason. There is going to be a little shelf at the top there to put jars of things in addition to the peg board below with a bunch of hanging things. Here is a list of things that I suggested to Mike that we could put in the jars: sequins, ribbons, rhinestones, beads, googly eyes, glitter. Let me know if you have any other ideas.

We painted the ceilings with Benjamin Moore Super White. They are made of some kind of composite material board with wood battens at the seams. We hand brushed all around the battens and used a roller on the boards.

It might not seem like a dramatic change, but we knew that the ceiling would end up looking very dingy if we didn’t give it a fresh coat of white. If you’re not sure if you should paint your ceiling, you probably should.
