Valaria Raskovnic, a blank, is the head of the Raskovnic caravan. Most know her as a prickly old woman who keeps everyone on line through sheer force of her "terrible aura", but when the scrawny street kid her granddaughter dragged home wakes up crying out from terrible nightmares (his visions) she quickly scoops him up in her arms and sings an old lullaby to calm his nerves.
She has never known why people are immediately so repelled by her, but over time she has learned to use this to her advantage. Like everyone else, the child was reluctant to be near her- he was reluctant to be near anyone, really. However, from this moment on, she will become his safe haven, a refuge when his mind is tormented.
