Texture Tuesday ➰ peep the words below 👇👇💚 @locsfestival ・・・ Dreadlocks is one of the most highly recognizable hairstyles but yet it’s so often misunderstood. For decades, wearing locs has been a taboo. People who wore them were ridiculed, persecuted and in some cases killed. Dreadlocks has been a part of black culture since the very beginning of civilization yet so many people still face condemnation for wearing them. Thankfully, this is the age of information so the perception of dreadlocks has been changing gradually. In today’s society it is more socially accepted amongst people of all walks of life from the everyday Joe to doctors and even celebrities. The Locs Festival is a cultural event designed to raise awareness about Dreadlocks as well as the Rastafari Movement. Our goal is to unite both cultures and not only educate the masses but to celebrate the beauty and history of both. Whether festival goers come to showcase their locs as a style or as an indication of black pride all are welcome. It is an honor to provide a platform that allows people to live in their truth. 📸: @posh_syd #supportblackbusiness #Loccommunity #rastacommunity #locsproducts #LocsFestival #rastamanvibration #reggae #rastanyc #nyclocstylist #locsatl #atlantastylist #locsfestivalbk2021 #atlloctician #locs #locsstyles #bklocstylist #locnation #locsnyc #loccommunity #loclife #locsfestivalatl2021 #locproducts #brooklyn2021 https://www.instagram.com/p/CkbCotRL011/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
