FFXIVwrite Prompt #1: Voracious
“What’s gotten into her?” Keeley stared in shock.
“Two and a half a ponze of jelly-filled cakes, so far, among other things.” Keeloux stared at the blue-skinned Keeper woman currently slash-and-burn devouring her way through his entire bakery in a mirror of his twin sister’s expression. She’d arrived no more than fifteen minutes ago and had already gone through a huge plate of cookies that was *supposed* to last the day, then trailed her way through the rest of his stock until she found the jelly cakes.
“She’s paying, right?” Keeley shook off her disbelief to be a little bit unpleasant about the whole thing.
“Just because she’s a keeper doesn’t mean she’s going to leave without paying,” Keeloux responded automatically. They’d had this argument a number of times. “Besides, she threw me this when she came in. I checked. The coins are weird but they’re real gold.”
He reached into his pocket and withdrew a coin pouch, jingling it before passing it over.
Keeley opened the draw and reached in to withdraw one of the coins, squinting down at it. “This isn’t gil.”
“Says ‘gil’ on it. Must just have been minted somewhere else.”
“Where’d she get it?”
“I didn’t ask. She was already too busy *eating* everything.”
Across the stall floor, their Keeper assailant stopped, glancing up. “Nooooooo,” she whined, before redoubling her efforts to shove the entire bakery into her mouth- then, a few moments later, she literally vanished before their eyes, instantly replaced with another keeper.
This one had dreadlocked green hair twisted back into a thick ponytail and pale grayish skin, covered in what looked like long-healed scarring and an intricate weave of tattoos. This was made obvious by the fact that she’d arrived in the store sans clothing. Keeloux was pretty sure he recognized her from the markets, and he would have said something if he wasn’t currently paralyzed, shocked into silence by the suddenness of the change.
Green Dreadlocks looked around, sighing at the clear signs of chaos in the store from before her arrival, seemingly heedless of the fact that she wasn’t wearing a stitch of clothing. “’s this Gridania? Godsdammit, she’s supposed to stay in the library- Uh.” She waved at Keeley and Keeloux. “Hey. She paid for all this, right?”
Keeley slowly held up the coin purse.
“Aight, least there’s that.” With that, she teleported away, presumably back to... whereever she’d come from.
Silence reigned once more in the bakery, before Keeley recovered enough to squint down at the gil coin again, the naked Keeper apparently deemed too weird to warrant discussion.
