Rat frowned and wondered why Curse was lying. He growled low, but bit his tongue and hobbled up the hill with the weighted pack on his back after her. Later, once the task was done, he returned to his bed roll and collapsed.
As he tried to find sleep, he couldn’t help but feel a divide between himself and the others. That he was an outsider among misfits. He kept telling himself that it didn't matter. It was a lie, one that give him little comfort.
How were these people supposed to be his family? The answer came to him a moment later, and he smirked ruefully. "Every family has a black sheep…"
