alt text: The picture shows a sketch of a ghost shark in the asensual pride flags and the asensual spectrum pride flags colours. The asensual pride flag is in the background. It consists of four equally sized horizontal stripes: black, grey, white, light orange.
I was curious if you were aware of the existence of ghost sharks? :3

When it comes to tales of ghosts and haunted places, caves and mines often star in these stories. The oppressive darkness and tight tunnels already bring about a sense of dread, so it is no surprise that the minds of men started to fill them with horrible specters and mysterious presences. Those who worked in mines can tell of the danger, and many know that death was no stranger in those realms. Tunnel collapses and poisonous gas claimed many lives over the years, tainting these dark places with death and misery. With all these elements combined, they become the perfect place to brew terror and fear. So many tales speak of pale figures darting into the darkness, strange noises echoing through the abandoned tunnels. How many brave explorers have come scrambling out these caverns like crazed animals? How many tremble at the idea of diving into these dark places, where the senses are robbed and the mind is driven mad? Some believe that ghosts haunt these lonely caves, while others suspect something more demonic. Recent encounters, though, may suggest something more biological, but no less terrifying. What little evidence exists of these creatures tells that they lurk in these abandoned mines and hidden cave systems. From the edge of light they can be seen darting into the darkness, shying away from the torches and lamps. Spelunkers and thrill seekers have claimed to see them peering from around corners and chutes, watching with wide unblinking eyes. At first they appear skittish and cowardly, fleeing whenever the explorer's attention turns toward them. For some unlucky few, though, these creatures did not stay this way for long. Those who had gone too far into these underground lairs have talked about attacks and other terrifying encounters. Harrowing stories of pale beings lurching from dark tunnels with claws outstretched. Groups of climbers being harassed as these creatures attempt to separate them. They emerged from these caves with terrible scratches and nasty bites, and some say that there are those who never return. Despite these supposed encounters, many still debate the existence of these creatures. Real or not, there are still those who delve into these dark tunnels. Be it curiosity or determination, they willingly enter these realms in search of what lies within. With the amount of videos and stories that come up empty from these adventures, one could be confident to say that these creatures are a myth. On the other hand, though, one must wonder about the stories that never made it back to the light. What tales that are lost down below, carried only by the dead? So many people seem to vanish without a trace, and so many people fear the dark... ------------------------------------------------------- As is the spooky season, I got in the habit of watching all sorts of scary videos, and a bunch of them were set in caves and abandoned underground structures. The kind of sort that have strange noises coming from the darkness, or the glimpse of something retreating into a tunnel. Though many are fake or embellished, I couldn't help but think of what things could lurk there. What came to mind was abyssal creatures, and the chimaera seemed like a perfect fit. Seriously, those things are kind of freaky, with their big eyes, odd faces and the weird lines that make it look like they were made of puzzle pieces. So I figured I would take those and make them into some ghoulish little monsters! Complete with long nose action! So whenever you find yourself in the dark of night, just think about the pale, ghastly creatures that may lurk around every corner! Fun fun!

Whales may have a special place in my heart, but the effect chimeras have on my soul borders on the sublime. Oh, where art thou, my own personal Nautilus?
