trying to get my brain sorted out hhhhhh,,, my bbs,,
Just when he finally got some time to himself after a particularly arduous procedure, he can hear the heavy footsteps coming towards his cramped office. Taking a second to kick back in his chair, he pulls a cigarette from its carton and retrieves his lighter, clicking the flame on just as the door is flung open, nearly falling off it's hinges at the force.
He'd has been stopping by alot lately. A smoke ring greets Reaper as he stares down at his son, lazing back in a shitty old office chair, taking his sweet time smoking and staring at where he knows his eyes are under the mask.
"What is it this time, father dearest?" A smug smile creeps it's way onto Nikolai's face, humming under his breath while he waits for a response, assessing what he can see of Reaper for damage.
There's a long pause, before the familiar rumble picks up. "I thought I told you to stop smoking."
Nico bites back a scoff, laughing softly and shaking his head, taking another drag. "Is that concern I hear, Reaper?"
He just couldn't catch a fucking break, with trespassers creeping up onto his property, getting shit from his old man about making his mother worry, and those things crawling up into the basement from the tunnels underneath the fortress- he was going to have to smash something. Sooner, rather than later.
A snarl reverberates through his chest, raking a hand through his hair as he paces the front entry, kicking the heavy front doors for good measure. Maybe he should get out, go do something else for the night? Where would he even go? The locals had started calling him a demon, even sent someone out into the woods to look for him after the mess he made on the outskirts a month ago.
Fuck it. He'd go see the girl again.
At first, he'd been convinced she was a witch, and had cursed him on sight- so he had reacted accordingly. It was only afterwards, when she had started crying while he had his hand around her throat, that he realized she wasn't capable of such things. Or at least, doing it to him. He had been somewhat dumbfounded when she begged him not to hurt her, after assuming she had started it- Were all women so confusing? Was this a trick?
It had taken a strained apology- not something he was used to giving- for her to calm down enough to speak to him again. He almost felt guilty, noting with interest how his handprint had already started to bruise around her neck.
After cautious introductions, she'd explained that she had gotten lost in the area, his area, and was only looking for herbs and foragables, promise!
He's not sure why he decided to believe her, but he recalls scowling at her, calling her an idiot and dragging her to her feet. The yelp she made was cute, he definitely remembers that- and he had told her he was going to walk her home, since she clearly couldn't be trusted to wander around on her own. She had swatted at him in offense, but it hardly meant anything to him.
After dragging walking her back to the edge of his territory, he'd released her, and watched silently as she began the trek back towards the nearest village, rubbing the back of his neck and huffing.
Once she had left his sight, and long after he'd returned home, he kept thinking about her. Why had he been so lenient with her? Ordinarily, he would have no qualms about crushing trespassers on his property, but when he'd seen her eyes become glassy and fill with tears, the fight had left his body. Once again, possibly cursed, but she had made no move to attack him back.
He groans quietly, shaking his head to clear his thoughts. Yeah, he'd go see the girl tonight.
