Tuesday 2/28, Nazir 36: Anomalous Conduct

The daf was so short today and yet I still absorbed none of it, because Sefaria reskinned its entire interface and I couldn't pay attention to anything else. I'm not someone who gets irrationally mad at every change a site makes, but I do get frustrated when nothing actually changes except the site skin, especially when it makes it visibly, measurably more difficult to navigate. I'm sure I'll get accustomed to it in time but I think it's frankly an ugly mess and I don't care for it. I'm going to eat an entire bowl of pungent dip and hope the suffering slakes my rage.

Saturday 7/22, Yevamot 17: Ibex, Youbex, Everybody Bex

The ibex is a beautiful creature; not what I’d compare a woman to, perhaps, between the hooves and horns and four legs and such, but one works with what one has, I suppose, and ibex were thick on the ground back when.

Monday 8/31, Eruvin 22: Really graspin the halakha

“Man of great skull” is my new favorite compliment. I intend to replace Galaxy Brain with Great Skull. 

I’m departing for vacation tomorrow, and I’ve been thinking about how to handle Daf Yomi, which I did last time by reading ahead and stacking posts in queue. It worked terribly in Berakhot and I can’t imagine it would work better in Eruvin, so I nixed that idea. I finally came to a conclusion that this vacation is going to need to hold a lot of weight in terms of relaxation and recharging, since I won’t get another like it for probably a long time, and I haven’t had one like it since February. 

So I’m not going to take a week off from reading Eruvin, but I’m going to give myself a week’s respite from posting about Eruvin. Which is the harder part anyway since I will have limited internet and I don’t love typing with my thumbs. 

I’m going to try to keep up with Eruvin from now through next Monday, and not worry about posting -- but also not worry too much about taking a little time off if need be. If I do my daily reading, great! If I don’t, I’ll see you on September 8th, when we will probably still be talking about boards around wells. 

(I’ll try to post a photo of that post-swim pizza I’ve been dreaming of. If the next thing you see is a mushroom pizza, know that I am living my best life.)

Monday 1/4, Pesachim 44: anomalous dips

I too would hesitate to fight a man doing straight shots of kutah. It reminds me of a friend in college who declared "They can't accuse you of double-dipping in the guacamole if you just eat the whole bowl with a spoon."

Wednesday 8/12, Eruvin 3: cornice to meet you

I must say I would accept either whimsical carvings of birds' nests OR a nice cedar pole as a decorative accent and I would be sure, just in case, not to put them more than 20 small cubits high.
