I genuinely fell for the Gancharov thing earlier because I saw like 1 or 2 posts at first by only one mutual and one of them was talking about how it's only getting traction now because there were like copyright issues when it was made or something

Same here!! I was really surprised that I had never heard of this movie, and then got really confused how it was all over the place suddenly.

I googled the name and ended up with a Russian author and nothing else basically, just before seeing the post explaining the situation, so I was starting to suspect I missed out on something (like the underappreciated 1973 Scorsese movie Gonrachov of course)

Zoids was and is just SO GOOD.

The anime came out back in 1999… NINETEEN NINETY NINE!

It blended 2D and 3D animation in a way that was almost unheard of at the time and it did it BEAUTIFULLY.

Honestly, I got a nostalgia bomb for the series last night because I was thinking of the Shadow Fox model I still need to build and my brain spiraled from there…

THEN I remembered the shows had AMAZING character names like:

Van Flyheight, Moonbay, Bit Cloud, Vega Obscura, Rotten Roger, Kotona and Rinna Elegance, Thunder Galaga, Bacon, Sauce, Candy, Avacado, Garlic, Caviar, Foie Gras, Gyoza, Penne, and Hot and sour soup.

BONUS POINTS for why I fell into the nostalgia train, I was trying to remember another Fiona I had a character crush on and then I remembered HER from Zoids: Chaotic Century/Guardian Force and then I remembered THIS CRAP SHE DID:

YES, THAT’S SALT. YES, THAT’S COFFEE. SHE WOULD JUST POUR SALT ON OR IN EVERYTHING, ENTIRE BOTTLES OF SALT. IT’S ALMOST LIKE SHE WAS SO SWEET THAT SHE NEEDED TO EAT SO MUCH SALT TO BALANCE HERSELF OUT.

As I understand it, nfts are basically ~unique~ urls to images people can buy with cryptocurrency. They don't even own the image used, just the url to it. And it's bad for the environment bc the urls are generated by a lot of computer math that takes a shit ton of electricity to do. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
